Can't FIND IE8 - Need it NOW

First, i’m running Mozilla and love it.

I have a bank which doesn’t like it, and I really need to talk to the bank.
Last time I had this situation, they explained that they use IE and maybe I should too.

So I download IE8 - which informs me that I have already downloaded it. OK, so over-write it - I can’t find it.

So I just did the download, let it run, double-clicked the downloaded file, declined all the kind offers of “helpful” add-ons and questionnaires.
Restarted when told to.

Now - no desktop icon, no entry under “all programs” - going into c:/program files produces an IE folder, the runables seem to be about how I want to connect.
This is DSL - it is already connected, and why do I have to get into the program files to run this mess?

Ideas?

Good ones?

Well, for those who come later - clicking “Windows Update” in XP program menu will get you IE - of course, Windows would default to use IE.
Would still like a real button.

It sounds like you may need to do the reverse of these instructions, if you want to re-enable direct access to IE.

there shouldn’t be that stuff in microsoft’s IE8 downlod http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=43 you need to make sure you downloaded the official install from microsoft then try installing agian.

Which versions of Windows are you running?

Have you tried typing ‘explorer’ in the search window when you hit the Windows key?

Thanks!

Got it.

Mods - just another of those “duh” questions.

All done.

Or leave it in case there is an easier way to have more than one browser and someone would like to avoid messing with “options and defaults” under Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel

Oh -

XP Home SP 3

Get IETab for Firefox, which lets you run MSIE within Firefox. Best of both.
