where is IE8?????

I downloaded Internet Explorer 8 yesterday because Firefox will not, for some reason, allow me to read the comments on the stories on the New York Daily News site.

  1. Why won’t Firefox allow this as it does on every other site I read?

  2. Where is IE8? I cannot find it on my computer to open the frigging thing!

Thanks in advance.

If you have installed IE9 or IE10 in Windows 7, simply go to Control Panel - uninstall programs and uninstall the current IE. When you do that, IE8 will be the default install.

You downloaded it but did you install IE8?

I prefer Google Chrome myself.

That is another problem. I try to install google chrome and it won’t install. I let it try for an hour and nothing changes as it says it is installing.

IE8? Just installed it yesterday? Guess you are using XP or maybe Vista.

You most likely have this “Brower Choice” Icon on your desktop now. Click onto it and select Internet Explorer, it should be available to you then again.

Alternatively, click onto Start- Run and type in C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe (this should work in XP, Vista & Win7)

IE8 is still outdated and not advisable to use for security reasons – it’s just not up to date. If you have XP, there is no way to install a higher version of IE onto it. If you have a later version of Windows install a newer/higher version of IE.

Thanks, that worked (the second suggestion), now do you have any idea why I can’t read the comments on this site with Firefox?

Are using NoScript by any chance? I find I have to “allow all this page” to read comments with NoScript installed. Or you might just have javascript disabled.

Sorry, no idea. This is the Siteyou are going to, right? It works in my FF version 25.
What version of FF are you using? Might be, some plugin needs updating.

If you are an old fogey luddite with an ancient computer (3 years old) with VIsta, IE has blown you off and is no longer interested in dealing with you. IE8 will not load in your computer, you have to buy a new one that meets IE minimum standards…

BTW, IE 11 is the latest.

IE 8 will run in XP or Vista. IE 9 will run in Vista or Windows 7. IE 10 will run in Windows 7 or 8. IE 11 requires Windows 8.

They’ve released 11 for Windows 7 now.
