Blah. Topic says it all. For some reason, didn’t try to go to sleep until late, then couldn’t sleep once I tried. Climb in bed, and suddenly I am wide awake and feeling vaguely nauseas. As an added bonus, my room mate somehow set his alarm to go off at 4AM, and it has been going off every 9 minutes for the last hour and twenty minutes or so (neither of us needs to be up before 6:30).
After I get up, I’ll have a good 6-7 hours of class I have to be at, I have to find time to go to the post office to mail my XBox off to get repaired, AND I have a quiz this morning. I could try to go to Sick Call and get put on Quarters for the day, but I don’t know if I’m even sick enough to warrant that, and probably I’ll just end up being sent to class late. And of course, if they give me Quarters, I’ll be a day behind in whatever it was they taught us in class.
Here’s hoping you made a spectacular recovery immediately after posting, made it through the day not feeling sick or tired, and accomplished everything you wanted to accomplish.
If not, I hope you feel better very soon.
Also, don’t worry about missing a day’s worth of material if you have a firm grasp of everything else you’ve been taught in the class. You can almost always teach the material to yourself with a little bit of effort (read the book, look online, or ask the professor for help, go to the tutoring center, etc).
Well, the concern is, I’m in tech school with the Air Force. We have to convince the medical staff that there is a medical reason that we need to miss class, or else they just send us on our merry way to class. Since I was feeling better, aside from the tiredness, by the time the day started, I doubted I’d do anything but screw myself out of some time to study before the quiz, which was in the second hour of class.
At worst, I’d risk one of my higher-ups thinking I was trying to weasel my way out of class (and after five months of it, who wouldn’t want to weasel their way out of a day or two?), and aside from my aversion to people having that opinion of me, I’ve got my Phase Grad date coming up (180 days in Tech School, basically I get treated like an honest-to-goodness grown-up for the first time in my Air Force career), so I don’t want to jeopardize that by looking like I’m trying to malinger.
In other words, I over-thinked myself into going to class feeling generally like crap and barely able to hold my eyelids open, let alone actually being able to do anything in a foreign language. A very productive use of my and the Air Force’s time.
