Falls in the Capital Region are beautiful, and thanks to a suggestion from taxi78cab, I’ve thought of a fun event - apple picking and a hayride in the evening. The place I have in mind is Altamont Orchards, which is a little outside of Albany but not too bad. We can all meet somewhere, or meet there, whatever.
I was hoping for October 1st or October 8th. Come on, Dopers! I’ll send an e-mail out too, but let’s get it together! Please?
Since Little Nemo bumped, I wanted to point out that spouses/significant others are welcome! I see no reason why we should leave them out if they want to come.
October 15th is the final date. I’ll bump it again on a closer date.
The Crowne Plaza used to be the Omni. It’s right on the corner of Pearl and State, and probably no harder to get to than your daily commute. (Keep in mind that I don’t know where you work.)
I find it somewhat amusing that Albacon has a bestselling author as Guest of Honor just like a convention in one of those important cities, but being Albany we get Terry Brooks.
I know where the Crowne is, I just didn’t know if you had to stay at the hotel to attend. No way I want to stay at the hotel when I can sleep in my own bed!
Woohoo! The 15th? Count me in! (I could also do the 8th, but probably not the 1st).
I’d also be happy to drive anyone down from northern VT/NY (I usually cross in Crown Point, but could also cross in Plattsburgh if folks wanted to come down from there and needed a ride).
Also, for some reason the boards seem to be blocked on my ISP at the moment, so I’m not getting my regular fix. So, for planning purposes, if anything needs to be decided in any sort of quick fashion, e-mail’s the way to get me (in my profile).

Aw, AZ is too far away for me to come! Been here ten years, but the mention of Altamont caught my eye…we used to live less than a mile away from the Orchards, on Pond Hill Lane. Those who go can wave at our old house, first on that road.
