Capital Region, NY Dopers: Another try at a Dopefest?

Is everyone still in? I was avoiding making any commitments until I knew if I could be there and I’m still not entirely sure. It depends on what time my sister-in-law wants us over at her house tomorrow.

So, there’s a 75% chance I’ll be there.

Yes, it is. I was looking forward to this thing.

I’d think that if anybody had license to be annoyed that I have to drive to Northville and back tomorrow, it’d be me.

I’m sorry to be annoyed with you. Really, I am…but I was really looking forward to meeting you, and I only tried to schedule another Dopefest because **you ** mentioned it over at the other place. I had pretty much given up.

I am (slightly) peeved because if people can make special plans to drive 2+ hours to get here, why is it so hard for you to drive 20-30 minutes? But again, I apologize for being irritated.

As it is, I’m thinking about cancelling it. I’d appreciate some input. A lot of people are coming, but the weather sucks and we can’t go apple-picking which was really our plan. Poor **Eonwe ** has to drive two hours and we don’t have an alternate plan. Which is my fault, and I apologize, as I should have come up with something else to do. And I know he is not the only one who has to drive a distance.

We can always try again in the spring…?

Are people emailing you privately about it? My commitment level is up to 90% if we’re doing it at Borders. They do have some yummy eats there.

I’m a little uninspired. I was all psyched for a nice autumn drive down and apple picking and such… as cool as it would be to meet you all, I’m feeling like 4 hours or so driving down in the rain to hang out at Borders is not in the cards for me. :frowning:

As one of the traveling people, I’m still in if other people are going to be there. So I need to know by tomorrow morning if anyone else will be at Borders if I drive up there. And just because we’re meeting at Borders, we don’t need to stay there. I picked it more as an easy place to meet rather than a destination. I’m open to any suggestions about an interesting way to spend the day.

Okay, I haven’t got word as to whether or not (or should it be weather or not in this case?) there’s still going to be a meeting. But I said I’d be there, so goldarnit I’ll be there. Because it’s a two hour drive each way (this is where I subtly make people feel guilty) I’m leaving now. If anyone else shows up at Borders, I’ll be the guy wearing a brown and black coat. If nobody else shows up, I’ll hang out in Albany all by myself today (sitting in the corner, eating worms).

So did anybody show up, or am I not the only evil heartless bastard in this town?

I’m sorry, Anaamika, but it’s not that it was too much trouble to drive for ten minutes, it’s that I absolutely had to be somewhere else. I’m also having a little trouble wrapping my mind around the idea that somebody could consider meeting me a big deal.

Oh no. The last time I checked this thread, it was about 10 minutes before you posted this. Since there were no other replies, I gave up and went to Crossgates.

How was the drive? Just the 25 minutes to Crossgates was miserable because of the rain.

I posted at the last minute for me because it’s a two hour drive, each way, for me to go to Albany. Which I did because I said I’d be there. After waiting an hour and a half for anyone else to arrive, I left. I don’t plan on returning.

I’m sorry I missed you. I wish I had waited another 10 minutes before I checked the thread again.

I’m a bit of a hermit, so I had gotten myself all ready to meet some new people, but I guess everyone else pooped out.

Apparently we don’t have the best luck with the weather. Wasn’t there a blizzard the last time we all tried to get together?
