Capitalists gone wild! - OR - Never. EVER. again. (long)

What I wonder is, is it worth it for the retailers to have these Black Friday sales? I suppose it is, if only because they’re moving a lot of stock. But it seems like there’s hardly ever such a thing as a sale that is good for the retailer and the customer both. If the stores actually lose money by competitively lowering their prices to the point where they can’t make a profit even if every shelf ends up bare, well, that sucks, considering the hell the cashiers, etc. go through.

I must say. watching 350-pound women run through the store is a little pathetic. As I’ve said in other threads, I work for Target. I’ve been unfortunate enough to see this happen, it’s a bit disturbing. Oh well, for the first year in my four with Target, I got to stay home the morning of Black Friday. The drive from Detroit to Kalamazoo wasn’t even that bad at 9:30 in the morning, so in all I can’t complain about this year’s events. I hope I get to miss the day after Festivus/Giftmas/The Celebration formerly known as Christmas as well.

I went shopping the day after thanksgiving.

I staggered out of bed at noon. Played video games for an hour until hunger drove me out of my apt.

I showered and hit the road at 20 min till 2.

I went to the North Star mall, I got the fabled non valet parking spot infront of the Cheesecake factory.

I then went into the Cheesecake factory, got a table for 1 without ANY wait, much to the disgust of the parties of 6+ waiting for a jumbo table. I then had a few drinks, a lovely chicken sandwitch, placed an order for a cheesecake to be picked up later then I slowly wandered down to the EB Gameworld, bought a copy of a game I’ve been wanting, no line to check out. Went back, picked up my cheesecake and went home.

I then stopped by the grocery store to get pasta, bread and sause for dinner then went home, played video games and waited for my cheesecake to thaw.

I was home by 3:45.

Oh, and I did forget where I parked :frowning:

Good god, yes.

We’re all done shopping. All summer I’ve been putting gifts on my “Save for Later” list. Last month I made the final choices and ordered.

Did you know that after you’ve been a customer for a certain time/amount spent, you get free shipping?
