Joseph is searching for Tamara in V-world in tonight’s episode.
Or… next week’s episode.
Little more insight into the group marriage. And a couple of Hey!-It’s-Whosit-From-Other-Genre-Show! appearances. I’ve a feeling this is going to be like on crime procedural shows – if a vaguely familiar guest star shows up, they’re going to be a plot point.
Like it pretty well, but it did seem disjointed at times. Really liked the bits with the lab guy and Zoe. Kinda shows the teen side of their personalities, lightens up the drama.
Did not get the bloody flashes Dad kept having/dreaming. He was not there and did not see or get reports of the break in so why would he be having these vivid dreams? Or are these flashes about something else?
I know I’ve seen the technology on shows like Alias, but does that computer download device that is just in proximity of a computer actually exist?
Some choppy editing, but it’s all in the cause of setting up new plotlines.
The flashbacks were just Daniel’s guilty conscience, that’s all. But Tomas is going to keep playing him.
So Zoe 2.0 can leave the robot and go back into V-World, and in Ugly Betty glasses, too, huh? She isn’t really integrated into it after all, then.
It did a 150,000 years ago. So I guess the Willow family is actually a monotheistic cell of some sort, but the group marriage isn’t just a cover. The stuff with Joseph freaking out seeing “Daniel” in v-world was funny. He really doesn’t understand the technology well. I also like how Ruth just let his bitter enemy into the apartment without a second thought (is she his mother or his wife’s mother ).
I record on VHS so I can’t do freeze-framing very well. Did they show Tauron as having a big-assed planet in it’s sky? And at the museum I only caught part of the detail of the sculpture they were standing near; a stylized raptor on top of ???
(I gather that Caprica is to the Twelve Colonies a lot like what the United States is to Earth: rich, powerful, technologically advanced, culturally dominant and not a little ugly and arrogant.)
I think a few weeks ago it was explained that Zoe2.0 is accessing the V-World just like anyone else does by logging in. She’s not “in” V-World like Tamara is. I think.
Does she have to physically port herself in? Or is it wireless?
At first she did - she had to put on the glasses. But I’m pretty sure she made a passing comment to her friend (whose name is escaping me) that she figured out how to do it remotely. (Which makes me wonder why she can’t access Match.com wirelessly…)
I was pretty sure that the whole family is STO - is that definite? Not sure what you mean by the second point.
Concur. She goes back to robot when someone comes into the lab to test her hydraulic actuators or whatever. Tamara does not exist out of V-World.
Lacy. And agreed that she should now have Mr. Universe internet access. And also guessing that she has a choice of wardrobe in V-World.
That reminds me, is Tamara conscious? But if so, how? In a real human, the holoband interfaces with the hardware of the existing brain. But in Tamara’s case, there is no “processor”. Are the writers consciously adopting the notion of mind as just software, or just haven’t paid any heed to it?
I should’ve put a paragraph break in between those two.
I meant that the appearance of Hey!ItsthatGuy-from-Buffy, and Hey!ItsthatGal-from-Stargate kind of telegraphs that these characters are going to be recurring, and hence important to the plot. Somewhat jarring, since on BSG that usually didn’t happen – you never knew if a guest star was going to be around, or going to be swiftly gone.
Serge Greystone has been twittering about the Twelve Colonies. IIRC it’s Caprica and Geminon that are supposed to be twin planets orbiting around a common barycenter… was that a skyshot of Tauron, or of Caprica?
Sure. It has to be that way for the Cylons to have any sentient ability. The Zoe and Tamara avatars have self-awareness and thought of their own. Plus, they can be downloaded and even copied.
If the production costs can stay down, this show can last a while. Right through the first Cylon war and their exile behind the Chrome Curtain, in fact.
Oh, she’s his mother-in-law, and she’s pretty pissed off most of the time. She’s hard-core Tauron, like Sam, and I don’t think she approves of Joseph deciding to “join the man” and try to be Caprican.
And neither the Zoe or Tamara avatars are the same “being” as the real Zoe or Tamara. Zoe-A is basically a carbon copy of the real Zoe, not Zoe’s uploaded consciousness. Tamara-A has even less in common with the real Tamara. At least Zoe was constantly feeding her most private memories & innermost thoughts into her avatar, Tamara-A was cobbled together from social networking data and medical records after Tamara was dead.
Not quite up to the promise of last week’s episode. The best part was seeing Sister Clarice’s machinations.
A little creative googling tells me that the museum scene was filmed at the Vancouver Museum of Anthropology. The sculpture was that of The Raven and the First Men.
That’s surprising, I thought it was a prop reflecting the polytheistic culture of Caprica.
Speaking of Sister Clarice, how many people thought a Drunken Lesbian Kiss was going to happen?
Voted Meh for this week. Just watched the episode, having DVR’d it since I was traveling over the weekend.
I…don’t like…knives and/or cutting, so I skipped over that scene. Not a big fan of Daniel’s soul patch thingy. Do kinda like Tomas announcing how he plans to pay Daniel back for the robbery/murders, knowing there really isn’t anything Daniel can do about it.
Why is defense such a big industry on Caprica? The Colonies aren’t at war with each other, and there are no known enemies for them to fight…
Ever hear of a cold war? It was strongly implied in BSG that the Colonies went to war with eachother in the past. Who’s to say that Scorpia isn’t some combination of Stalin’s USSR, Hitler’s Germany, Mao’s China, and Kim’s North Korea? Geminon seems to be a theocracy of sorts (which make’s it all the more strange that monotheistic heretics would want to move there :dubious:).
So each planet still has their own military now, and there is no Colonial fleet yet?
