CUIABA, Brazil (AP) — One Brazilian state legislature has increasingly found its voting sessions invaded by a group of unexpected visitors: capybaras.
The notoriously chill rodents strolled through the front door of the local legislative building in Cuiaba, in the central Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, and surprised lawmakers who were preparing for a vote last week. The building sits next to a park filled with wildlife.

“They show up here quite often, so we’ve gotten used to seeing them,” Bueno said.
I’m sure they were just doing their civic duty as oversized rodents. I also like that the article closed with
Their visit caused no damage to the Mato Grosso state legislature.
While claiming no relevant expertise whatsoever, my gut tells me that we’d have been looking at an entirely different kind of party had somebody lit up that robot vacuum cleaner seen napping against the wall
I get the impression that the dog thinks the capybara is just a weird-looking dog, and the capybara thinks the dog is a weird-looking capybara.
If that’s the case, then at the end of the video it looks as if the capybara is saying to itself “How does he DO that?” while looking at the dog lying down with its forepaws in front of it. The capybara looks like it’s trying to do the same, but can’t.
It looks like the capybara is limping, favoring its right hind leg. I hope it wasn’t anything serious. One of my rats had a very nasty leg infection a few months ago and was limping like that, but responded well to antibiotics and an antiinflammatory.
