Does anyone know of a good resource for finding parts that fit multiple vehicles? Example: Finding out what other vehicles use the same door handle or rear seat belts as, say a 1978 Cherokee or a 2004 Grand AM? JUST a couple examples there of the type of stuff I’m looking to find out. Thanks for reading.
Hollander is the one that I keep hearing about.
Salvage yards use these cross references, a salvage yard should be able to tell you how to find one.
ETA: Probably a better term to use is interchange guide.
Youre absolutely right. Thanks. Wasn’t aware of this term before. And yeah, the junkyard can look 'em up, but I was really looking for a way (online and preferably free) to do the same thing.
What kind of part are you looking for?
All kinds of stuff from all kinds of vehicles. Guess explaining my reasoning might help a tad. I’m an online/ ebay seller and sell parts sometimes. I would just like a sure way to know what the sunvisors or seat belts or bumper, etc, etc from one particular vehicle can also be used on.
If you’re talking about things you can buy at your corner parts store (as opposed to dealer-only stuff), go to www.rockauto.com and browse to the part in question. Click on the part number and it’ll bring up a list of every car that part is also listed for. Other online parts stores have similar features-- I used to like the one on the now-defunct partsamerica site.
Thanks, but no, I’m talking about original parts.
