Car stereo inputs

Does anyone know of ANY brand/model that has an input for a 1/8" audio jack? In my Nissan Titan i have exactly that as an auxillary input right there on the dash. I would like to have that feature in another car, but i haven’t been able to find any headunits with that feature. Any ideas or work-arounds using RCA adapters maybe with headunits that have input jacks?

Are you saying the you specifically want the jack in the head unit itself (in which case I would have to ask if you want it in the front or the rear). As for a work around (I guess it depends on what, exactly, you are trying to accomplish) I’ve spliced* into the antannae wire before. Then you tune to a specific station, but the quality is as good as a direct connection.

*by splice I don’t mean cutting wires, but rather just finding the proper antanne connectors at radio shack.
What are you trying to do?

I just today got a catalog fromCrutchfield. Of the 28 car stereos in the catalog, 24 of them had auxiliary inputs.

Brands include Alpine, Blaupunkt, JVC, Kenwood, Panasonic, Pioneer and Sony.

Crutchfield lets you search by feature, including AUX input. It’s a very common feature.

I haven’t looked at those units, however a lot of the times the AUX input are 2 RCA style jacks in the back of the deck (this was true with my Sony deck).

But what I did was buy a 6’ RCA-to-1/8" headphone jack cable. I plugged that into the AUX port on the back, then ran the wire out the bottom of my dash to where I have my iPod Nano.

Hope that helps…

That’s basically what i figured i’d have to do. I’ll investigate the Crutchfield site when i get home today, weather permitting.

I am in love with a Crutchfield technical advisor and he supports this one as the quick n’dirty.
