I’m having the darndest time finding a suitable replacement to my aging car receiver.
Are there any decently priced units with both AUX input (to plug in mp3 players) and an HD Tuner (to listen to HD radio stations?
Note: “HD-Ready” is no good. It means there is no HD tuner inside. You have to purchase and install it separately. It’s a dishonest buzzword meant to fool the less tech-savvy customers.
Crutchfield is already my friend. I bought my 7.1 Onkyo Receiver+speakers combo from them.
However, the 2 models you have mentionned are both deficient. The first doesn’t have an auxiliary input, it says “optional auxiliary input”, meaning you have to buy an extra component, plug it to the back of the receiver, and somehow get it out someplace else in the car.
The second doesn’t even mention an AUX input, notwithstanding the fact it is 10X as much.
No that would be exactly the solution asked for the OP.
You will note there is nothing there about the location of where aux input needed to be. Or that the aux input could not be an additional accessory. I left my crystal ball in my other pants. Personally, I think having the aux input inside the center console is a far superior solution as if I have to stop somewhere my iPod is out of sight. But I am not the guy shopping for a stereo.
Gozu Out of over 225 car stereos listed at Crutchfield the unit I mentioned is the only one that has the three things you requested. Yes the aux input requires an additional box, but what you want may not exist right at this moment. Two weeks from now this could be a different story, but judging from the overwhelming lack of response to your question, I guessing not.
Right you are. I vastly overestimated the number of HD radios in existence. I did a bunch of research on my own and came up with the exact same conclusion you did. So did some other dude on some other board.
Of course, your solution is erroneous. The iPod add-on is not a universal AUX input. As it turns out, I do have an iPod so you got lucky there.
Also, your first post was not a good answer. Severely lacking in detail at best.
That said, I appreciate your help and your efforts and sincerely thank you for both.
Dude, you seriously need to work on your reading comprehension. The KS-U58 is a straight aux adapter with a 3.5mm plug on the end if the picture and description is to be belived. The description on the accessories page is “Input Adapter to Stereo Mini Plug” If you click on the model number, the description is “Adds AUX input to compatible JVC receivers w/ changer controls • converts the CD changer port to a standard headphone-style mini-jack”
If you look at the top of the accessories page you find the iPod adapter is a KSPD100.
I found you what appers to be the only unit on the market that does exactly what you asked for, but as I had no way to know that what you asked for was not what you wanted. You have a funny way of thanking people who do you a favor.
It was pretty clear to me that he was specifically looking to avoid solutions which required extra components that you have to purchase and install seperately, outside of the head unit.
