Carde Craps: An abomination of nature

I LOVE shooting craps…I may not always win, but it is probably my favorite game in the casino.

I was at one of the indian casinos in Southern California yesterday, when I see A CRAPS TABLE! Now, in the most recent gaming compact law, it specifically states that the house can offer games of chance with cards, but not dice or a wheel. So I walk over and…they are playing craps with CARDS.

The pit boss explained that there were 73 cards in the shoe - 6 each A-6 and a joker. Since there is an equal probability of any of the numbered cards being dealt, it is statistically equal to throwing two six-sided dice. This site explains the game

I gotta tell you though, it just seems wrong. There is nothing like the thrill of thowing them bones. I applaud them for their ingenuity, but I think I will stick to Las Vegas for my craps.

That is all.

Actually, I think that “Carde Roulette” described on the site was even worse. No roulette wheel? Now that’s just bizarre.

And what’s the “joker card” for in “Carde Craps”? Who gets to decide what the joker stands for–the house or the shooter? Either way, it just wrecks the odds.

BTW, I went to the brand spanking-new Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls, NY yesterday. Not Vegas by any means, but pretty nice, and they had real craps and real roulette!
