Care to explain your screen name?

I’m a stripper. Get it? Moebius the Stripper?

It rhymes. And it’s better than boywithaploy. Actually, maybe it’s not. Tubadiva…

PS Sorry PlanMan, I didn’t do too much research on existing screen names.

My favorite kung fu weapon

Ultrafilter gives us a link about how what his name stands for can be used to prove the existance of God. This he gets… Payne N. Diaz … total stumper

its a spinning neckbreaker.

I’m the official superhero for the boards. Superman© was already taken, and that bastard’s got better lawyers than I do. I have no problem tacking injustice where I find it, but corporate copyright infringement’s just a losing battle.

My job when I first registered was in undersea (sub-) fiber optics (-light).

darn I was expecting something else…

Mine’s a nickname with a nickname. Mia=short for Maria (lil’ bro couldn’t say maria); mouse=something my mom used to call me, not sure but think it may be a term of affection in german. I was gonna change it because I often direct some friends here to lurk, but now I’ve decided to keep you guys all to myself.

Jet Jaguar is an Ultraman-like robot from the movie Godzilla vs. Melagon. I picked it back when I frequented the Mystery Science Theatre 3000 newsgroup (GvM was once featured on the show) since I’m a fan of both MST3K (MSTie #54297) and Godzilla. It has since become my standard online handle.

I’m a chief in the Navy.
My name is Scott.

Hence…

I’m named after a sword from a D&D game my brother ran. I use it because it’s not too terribly common out there, so I don’t get into name conflicts.

"…She was looking for that stud bull, the he cat.
And that was me.

Tommy the Cat is my name,
and I say unto thee…

Say baby, you wanna lay down with me?
Say baby, you wanna lay down by my side?
Say baby, say baby…"

-Primus, Tommy the Cat

Mine’s from the Madeleine L’Engle books. Of course, you probably already knew that.

I picked the name because I love the sound of Balinese music. I am a composer by trade, but I don’t play any of the instruments from the Gamelan orchestra. I’m not from Bali (Heinz 57 mixed American), but the music is lovely.

Also, check out Morphius (musiccity.com) for gamelan music downloads.

I got this name at a dopefest. I wasn’t officially a Doper(I didn’t have a screen name) but my GF was. She invites me to a dopefest, and as I was being introduced to the people attending, they would say their name, followed by their screen name. I would reply that I was Bryan, “just plain Bryan”. They joked that this should be my screen name when I actually do officially join SDMB, so here I am!

Put me in the ‘obvious’ category as well. But just in case… yes, I mean baby bobcat. All little and cute and cuddly and fuzzy, til you corner or cross it. Then it rips out your throat.

Buddha said everything has Buddha-nature.
Jo Ju said a dog has no Buddha-nature.
Which one is correct?

Pretty cool, huh? Too bad I thought of it first, suckers! Hahahahahahahahahahah!!!

If Google didn’t make it so darned easy, I’d offer a mini white-Elephant to the first correct guess…

It’s from the concept album Hope by Klaatu.
For the lyrics:

I was introducted to Klaatu by my first real crush (Hi Chris!). I have Hope & Klaatu on CD AND LP…

I started using it when the college I went to used VAX as their e-mail system & you could give yourself an alias. I thought Politzania sounded neat, was qite obscure & gave a resonable hint as to my gender (useful as I was a bit of a flirt at the time).

My other alias was “Thunder Child” …

I chose my name for three reasons:

  1. Its meaning: “The nearly straight-line configuration of three celestial bodies (as the sun, moon, and earth during a solar or lunar eclipse) in a gravitational system.”

  2. It looks cool when written in traditional cursive script. Try it.

  3. I love to hear people try to pronounce it for the first time, especially if they’re rushing.

I’m actually thinking of getting a license plate with “SYZYGYZM” on it, just because no one would ever remember it correctly.
