Carly Fiorina announces presidential campaign

Def a clear-headed strategy to target Trump.

I’m kind of conflicted about whether a male could have delivered the key line without seeming to patronise. Anyway, it was a gift for her and she nailed it.

I’m appalled at her rise in the polls. At least Rubio also went up solidly. Looks like Rubio is poised to emerge as the establishment finalist.

FOUND: The source of Carly Fiorina’s fetus claim. (Perfectly SFW.)

What worked against Fiorina in 2010… and may again in 2016: http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/30/politics/carly-fiorina-california-campaign/index.html

Still don’t see the big deal about her one-liner. The main problem just seems to be that Trump didn’t fight back. But I’m starting to think he’s trying to focus more on likability, as his numbers are starting to go down.

I have a good friend who was a VP at Compaq when Fiorina, in her role as HP CEO, bought them out. He worked with her at length and in close proximity and said she is rude, thoughtless, deceitful, ruthless, and cruel to underlings. Although he was offered an extremely attractive employment package to stay with the new, blended company, he couldn’t stomach working with or for this woman and left for a position with another company. As this individual was both a patient and fair man, the kind of person who was willing to give anyone a chance to prove their worth, his disgust with her carries weight with me. I’m not a Republican, but if I were, she wouldn’t get my vote.

That being said, she should feel free to skewer Trump at any and every opportunity.

Why? It sounds like she’s a much worse person than Donald Trump. People who work with Trump actually say nice things about him more often than not.

I agree with adaher here. Fiorina is a despicable person, and yes, worse than Trump. Trump is a buffoon and an idiot who fell bass-ackwards into money. Fiorina is incompetent and malevolent. Her exit from the presidential race can’t come quickly enough for me, followed shortly thereafter by Cruz.

Let’s keep Jindal around for a while, though, for comedy relief.

I’m not sure how well it really worked though. When push came to shove Fiorina was, by a hair, the closest of the three Republicans that have run against an incumbent Boxer. Losing by 10 points as a Republican in a state wide election in California is pretty respectable. The presidential elections that bracketed the 2010 election were decided by margins of 23 and 24%. Bush, who expanded the usual Republican share of the hispanic vote, in 2004 and 2000 lost by 10% and 11% respectively. Dianne Feinstein’s last two Senate runs have had wins by margins of 24 and 25%. Even with the attacks Fiorina performed pretty well in an uphill fight.

If as the article mentions her campaign staff has done the right prep to confuse the message it might not work out to be a silver bullet. It’s certainly not a secret to those already paying attention. Some of the downside might even be built in to her current poll numbers.

Yes but I think the reasoning is that precisely because of that, Carly would be the one to get in her mind that “if I can’t make it at least I’ll be the one to make Donald bleed just to wipe the smug off his face.”
Graham’s proposal for more drinking looks ever more like the answer…

Carly supports Planned Parenthood to the tune of over $450K.

That’s going to leave a mark.

Let’s hope the next debate moderators call her out for this. Apparently the Kochs are warming up to her, after they decided to quit throwing money down the Walker rathole.

That rathole got full, they need bigger rats.

This article seems a little misleading to me. So, her foundation is part of a network that gave almost half a mil to PP. I don’t think it can be pinned on her as easily as this article is trying to insinuate. But maybe the mere mention of PP in the same breath with any GOP candidate will be enough to disqualify her/him in the minds of the avg GOP primary voter.

As the article noted and is obvious, if she gave a shit where her money went there’s plenty of ways to do it. Instead it’s just a tax right off so oops, it went to fetus parts salesmen. Not much of a defense.

Fiorina name dropped Steve Jobs during the debate, not for the first time.

Five days ago, Medium published an article about how Steve Jobs fleeced Carly Fiorina back when she led HP. Apparently, Apple took advantage of HP’s distribution channels to sell Apple-HP iPods for a while. While I’m not sure what HP lost, it was clear that Apple gained a lot, mostly by locking in a different set of customers into their iTunes store. And the strategy couldn’t have possibly worked for HP, since Fiorina made no provisions to sell the most current iPod model - they had the most recent model for only a few months. Furthermore, the agreement banned HP from competing in the iPod market for a couple of years.

There were also missed opportunities. When Carly took over Compaq in the teeth of much internal opposition, they also bought a bunch of patents issued to DEC, a company that Compaq had bought in 1998. Some of them involved battery life in .mp3 players. They had a case against Apple. But the issue was never raised with them.

*If you think us liberals all are going to vote for Hillary (assuming she wins the nomination) because we love her, you’re just deluded. Most of us liberals will vote for Hillary because the Republican alternative will be so, so much worse for America.

Liberals always try to forget one little thing. Nearly every major problem this country has today is an outgrowth of one liberal policy or another.

Why is crime so high? Liberals pushed the idea that perps had a bad childhood or various other reasons they weren’t responsible for their actions.

Teenage pregnancy? Instead of teaching children abstinence they preferred to give them condoms as well as music and movies that glorified it.

Drugs? Movies and music encouraged drug too.

Profanity? Yep, movies, print media, and especially music!.

Disrespect for the law. Same as above.

And now we have young people wanting to take their anger out on other people they may not even know. Possibly because of the violent video games they’ve played for numerous years that many of us tried to get outlawed because of the affect it might have on those children.

Oh yeah, the opposite of liberalism, conservatism, the ideas that would have directed the above ideas in a healthy direction were all bad, you say. The real problem is liberals exaggerate whatever solutions conservatives have, twisting them into something we never intended them to be. Liberals like to “think outside the box”. That can be a good idea but isn’t automatically right. Maybe it’s a good idea, but not all the time. Remember new math? That didn’t work. There are tons more ideas like that. Just because some liberal comes up with a new idea doesn’t mean it’s great or that a conservative’s new idea is bad or that Fiorina would go belly up just because she’s a conservative. She certainly has more experience than oBAMA and couldn’t do any worse than he has. I’m willing to bet she’d at least listen to her top generals when they give her war advice more than oBAMA has.

I know it’s gotta be tough being a liberal.

Phu Cat

“Us liberals”, you claim? :dubious:

How bout that national debt; nothing to see there from GWB, nothing on tax cuts, $2 trillion for Iraq or the 2007 crisis.

Oh yeah, what’s with that

stuff? Isn’t it supposed to be “O’Bummer” or “Nobama”?

And

Who do you mean by “we”?
