Has anyone here had good/bad experiences with CarsDirect.com?
What did you think of the whole process?
Did you trade-in?
Now for the rant. I feel sorry for car salesmen, actually. Everybody’s got to make a buck. My nephew was a car salesmen.
But ya know what? The attitude people have toward you, and the image you have is your own fault.
I’m about to buy a new car (SUV actually) so I’ve been doing a bit of research. It’s much easier to educate yourself about a car before buying it than it used to be.
So, car salesmen, with that in mind, don’t lie to people or mislead them. And if you don’t know the answer, don’t make stuff up. Your customers are better educated than ever.
Case #1 – Salesman ‘John’
John, we want adjustable pedals for two reasons. I’m tall and need the room. My Wife is short and wants to stay away from the airbag. No, putting a pillow behind her back is not a solution, and actually contrary to the problem. And, that you would suggest this as a solution for a car that you are asking $40,000 for just about made me laugh out loud.
And John, When my Wife asked what HDC (hill descent control) is, don’t make shit up if you don’t know the answer. I explained it to my Wife later. It can’t be that hard to learn about the cars you sell. That’s sort of part of your job.
Otherwise, you where a pretty nice guy.
Case#2 Salesman ‘Les’
I asked to drive a certain model with leather (heated) seats. You didn’t flinch and ran off to get some keys.
But you couldn’t find the right car. So, you bring another model up for us to drive. The loaded one.
Fine. I’m sort of surprised that you don’t have the off-road package with heated seats, as we live in COLORADO. But whatever. Maybe you can’t keep them on the lot.
Seems like you have plenty of the fancy spancy models though. :dubious:
So that’s what we drive. We like it. Except it isn’t the option package we want.
And all of a sudden, according to you, heated seats aren’t available on the off road model.
Um no. They are available. The Nissan brochure says so, Nissanusa.com says so, and we confirmed it with the new car manager.
Les, not available and not on the lot are two different things.
I asked if heated seats where available in a different car (I don’t think they are). You said it was, “If we put leather in it”.
What you meant was we have a guy that will put aftermarket heated seats in the car. That’s NOT the same thing as available from the factory. It took a while for me to figure out what you meant. Wings on the car are ‘available’ too ya know, just not standard equipment. :smack:
You do this everyday. Isn’t it important that you make sure your potential buyers know the different options they have? Where you trying to mislead us, or do you just not care as long as you can get a sale.
Sigh…… All in all it went pretty well. I’m pretty sure I’m going to go through carsdirect.com.
