Casey and Andy's Final Strip

Surprisingly enough, strip 666 is the ending strip of the first webcomic I got into.

I can honestly say that I’m not really too bummed out about it. When the writer went on this latest hiatus I was rather upset about that, his was the only comic I looked forward to. But while he was away I found the likes of “XKCD,” “A Softer World,” and “Questionable Content.” Three comics which, although they may not have been funnier in “Casey and Andy’s” hey-day, they were easily on par with, and their writers didn’t go on random hiatuses.

So I moved on from “Casey and Andy” in the meantime. When they came back I was really excited for the first three or so updates. Then I could see that the quality had dropped off. There were a few funny moments, don’t get me wrong, but it was obvious that he didn’t even really want to do it anymore. That he was just doing it out of some sort of obligation.

I finished it because I’ve read every singe other strip, but I’m not really sad to see it go. It was time for it to end.

According to my bookmark, I’m up to #446. I haven’t read in a few months…looks like it’s time to finish 'er off…

I dunno. Casey and Andy was one of the earlier webcomics, and while he took breaks, so did many other strips of the era. Some artists need time to recharge and start things over (heck, how many times has JJ Rowland killed off a strip?) and Andy is obviously one of those people.

As for the final arc, despite the two year break in the middle, I think it works. If you read the whole arc in one go, it’s the same strip as it always was. Stupid jokes and everything.

Bob was there too.

Now that Weir has completed his appointed task, I can continue with my plans to destroy him and that pathetic orb you all come home.
