Casey Anthony Sentenced to 4 years

But the judge says that she will get out in July or August? And she’s been in jail for about 2 1/2 years, some of that for other charges? Does not compute.

She’s served almost 3 years already. She will be getting time off for good behavior as is standard practice, according to the report I just read.

Since Casey knew Caylee wasn’t actually missing but nevertheless allowed the Equusearch team to waste time, effort and money looking for her, she may be sued for that. The fictitious nanny she invented may cost her too as the woman who’s name she used may sue for defamation. In short, her punishment may continue to be meted out in ways other than incarceration.

In Canada, you get double credit for time served before sentencing, not sure why exactly.

She’s being released back into the wild on Wednesday. I’m guessing she’ll probably be released earlier than that in order to do it in secret.

Maybe, though I believe she’s broke, so suing her would basically cost the person suing time and money with little hope of actually getting anything out of it.

If she lost both those suits, couldn’t the decision be applied against any future monies she might earn? It sounds like there’s the potential at least that she might be well compensated by some future media arrangement, be it a movie, book, show, whatever.

This was eliminated in a couple of years ago. The rationale for 2-for-1 was that conditions in holding cells while awaiting trial are worse than conditions in prison.

Yep, any money she makes for a while, expect people coming at her with their hands out - including Uncle Sam; the’s on the hook with the IRS for about $70K in back-taxes.

Which means she probably won’t bother to spend a lot of time trying to make money.

Say what? How does an unemployed person owe $70K?

From the Orland Sentinel:

Sounds like Baez screwed up. It was his responsibility to pay the IRS first from that ABC money. Casey was in jail and couldn’t handle her own business affairs.

After two and half years I shudder to think what the penalties & interest are. The IRS is brutal in their calculations. It piles up every day.

Wow. I feel so bad for Casey now.

A legal question: if it was somehow proven that Baez cooked up the “Caylee drowned in the pool” defense knowing perfectly well it wasn’t true, could he get into trouble for saying it? (I know it would be next to impossible to prove, but I’m asking more as a hypothetical.)

Since O.J. Simpson is still in prison, maybe she can take over his search for the killer(s) of his ex-wife and Ronald Goldman.

For the safety of everyone, I hope Casey doesn’t move back in with her parents. The anger between her and Cindy was evident in court every time Cindy testified.

George has a mean and nasty side too. Check out this deposition at 2:40 and the next ten minutes. He’s smirking, belligerent, uncooperative. Even Jeff Ashton said in court that he and George battled in the deposition Ashton conducted with George.

George can be the weepy, harmless grandpa. Or a nasty, scary dude. There were numerous incidents reported when protesters were outside his home in 2008. There’s enough tragedy already. I don’t want anyone else hurt or killed. Those three may rip each other apart.

I could easily see a very violent incident in that home. There’s dynamite waiting for a match.

I actually wondered if the Anthony’s neighbors could petition she not be allowed in the neighborhood. True she’s not a felon, but they could easily prove that her presence in their neighborhood could endanger the property and conceivably the safety of others.

Casey is going to have to take one of the book deals or interview offers whether she wants to or not. Nobody in their right mind would hire her for anything and she’s not disabled, can’t draw unemployment, and probably isn’t eligible for welfare, so she’s got to get money from somewhere.

From the way Judge Perry (who I love, incidentally) kept slowly saying “Caylee… Marie… Anthony” during the sentencing you can tell he’d hang the bitch if he could. OTOH he’s of the “Let Justice Be Done Though the Heavens Fall” ilk when Justice is synonymous with legal process.

CNN reported that Cindy was overheard saying to George how pretty Casey looked with her hair down at the sentencing. She didn’t seem like she was mad at her all. Who knows? These people are bat shit crazy.

Not saying the family was any more or less dysfunctional than any other family, nor do I think he actually had anything to do with Caylee’s death. But besides the videos, it seems he had a gambling problem, and having an affair with anyone while you’re searching for your lost grand-daughter is kind of skeevy to me (and sheesh, if you were going to hit someone you couldn’t do better than River Cruz?). So yeah, he seems to be a bit of work.

I put the over/under on the Cindy/George divorce at three months.
