Casshern: visually stunning Japanese movie trailer

Hello all,

For those of you with high-speed Internet connections who can view movie trailers, you simply MUST check this out. It’s for a Japanese movie called Casshern, apparently based on an anime series. The trailer is absolutely gorgeous! I don’t know much about it, except for that it was filmed entirely in front of CGI backgrounds, much like Sky Captain and Sin City were. I hope we get to see this movie in the States at some point, because it looks awesome from this trailer.

What do y’all think? And I’m sorry if this is old news, like if the movie has been out for a while.

Man, I was diggin’ it until it got all…anmie-ey.

That does look pretty awesome.

If it looks anime-y - it’s because, well, it’s based of an Anime.

The trailer has been out quite some time, and I think the movie is on DVD in Japan already. I’ve seen it, and… I liked the trailer better.

I’d have to watch the movie again, but it was very confusing for me, the supporting characters were all pretty similar so it was hard to pick out the story. Not a lot of action either. Some cool visuals though.

I’d be interested in seeing it dubbed (gasp!) in English, maybe that would help.

That’s because it’s based on the anime “Cashan: Robot Hunter”.

Skip it. I was all impressed at the trailer but wasn’t impressed at all with the movie. Terribly disappointing. ><

From the OP, I realized it was based on an anime, but I was hoping it wasn’t one of the giant robot ones. It’s kind of odd to make an animated action movie into a mostly computer animated action movie.

I was just rejoicing at the lush backgrounds and thinking that perhaps we’ll get more Jeneut and Caro sensibilities in the mise-en-scene.

Must…hunt…down…anime.

It looked awesome, and I’d also be interested in seing it either dubbed or subbed, although if it was the second I’d then have to watch it twice since I’d miss all the cool visuals the first time around.

I saw it (the japanese version), it was really good visually, and they did a good job soundtrack wise, but its not really a “comfortable” fit for western tastes (if you know what I mean, that is, the pacing is all “off”).
Good example of what we might get to see once this particular mode of action movie technique starts to come into its own though. (that is to say, have the limitations of reality lifted where sci fi is concerned)
