Castaway 2 - Armorgames

Just dropping in to say I beat it!

Woot for me!
I already want to go back and beat it faster, with all the quests.

Must … wait … till … kid … is … in … bed.

The nice people at the Armor Games forum found a better map for me.

If you’re having trouble, you might want to gie it a try.

That looks worthwhile too, I like the crafting guides use of the actual screen silhouettes so I’ll probably swap between all three screens for the next run.

I think it’s a rather cheap game. After a certain point there are way too many monsters that can stun-lock you until you die.

Not sure that that’s true - that games been out a month and there seem to be quite a few of us who’ve beaten the top levels.

The armor, shielding, weaponry & magic combinations are more important in this game than the first, perhaps that’s where you’re having problems. I countered the stunning attacks by firing distance spells, my kid counters them by attacking first.

We both rely on having our pet on assist or aggressive - the latter is good for thinning out the heavier bunches of monsters.

There’s also (I’m noticing in my second run through) a tendency for bunches of monsters just before a boss - where leveling up could be an advantage.

I didn’t say it was hard, I said it was cheap. Countering their stun-lock abilities with my kill-you-with-one-shot-from-across-the-screen lightning bolt just means I have to resort to the same cheap tactics.

Ok - you don’t like it.

It’s so cheap it’s free.

I’m finding it good value for money.

Maggenkid Says: I thought that the whole attack-them-with-lightning thing was a bit harsh on the monsters. So I attack them with fireballs, so they can get to me if they survive, where I kill them with a spacebar swipe.

Me again: She’s twelve, please phrase any response with that in mind.

maggenpye, are you having to start over at level 1 or were you able to keep your levels/stats?

I’m moving slowly but surely. Just defeated Reynard or whatever his name is. I find the map slightly frustrating as it’s not that obvious how many screens it takes to go from one place to another and I wish I didn’t spend as much time as I am looking for crafting materials. Is there a difference in pets? Does it matter if I use an eye guy versus a beetle?

When I beat the top boss I had a choice. The game *also *saved my characters stats, but because of the kid’s character I saved my new-from-the beginning character over my beaten-the-game character.

The premium edition and global save would sort that for anyone who wanted it.

I’d mucked up too many quests to ‘clock’ the game (as the young 'uns say)so I chose to start over.

It’s going much quicker the second time around as I’m wasting less time searching and I don’t need to look at the maps nearly so often.

Inner Stickler, these are the maps I use - the first lot below the crafting recipes are modified screen shots of the actual game, which I find great since I can match up exactly where I am if I get lost. I tend to wander.

The map below it is the brilliant one that Malleus, Incus, Stapes! mentioned and it’s got the quests etc superimposed on the in-game world map so you can easily count off how many screens left/up etc you need to go.
