Your attempts to paint me as a snivelling wretch are more revealing of your own deficiencies than mine.
Dude, I’m not the one who committed criminal acts and then found myself in a position where “running was not an option” because of a known gangster and one of his cronies. You were.
I am the one who has made a second career through much of my working history out of working with criminals. I expect I’ve known enough of them, heard enough of them testify, sat in therapy sessions with enough of them, and listened to enough of them gossip with each other to have a pretty fair idea what they are like.
They lie a lot. They rationalize a lot. They blame others a lot. They pity themselves for their sorry lives a lot.
That being said; I’m simply not buying your version of how those events unfolded. My knowledge of criminals does not dovetail with your description of how things supposedly happened. You have dropped enough fragments of the truth for me to guess what did transpire. Occam to the rescue, as it were.
I was in that other ungodly long thread you were in and both in that thread and this thread have read every post.
Nobody really held it against you that you were a thief in your distant past.
You received a better reception here on the SDMB than you would virtually anywhere else you would in the REAL world with polite company.
But, you have REALLY shot yourself in the foot here (pun intended) lately by coming up with excuse after excuse as to WHY you were a petty criminal and why its always the victims fault and never the criminals fault and any scenario where the victim is trying to only defend themselves or their family or property makes THEM the bad guys.
Its like your on step 13 of 12 step program and are back to step 0.
It would be sad if it wasnt so karmic and iritating.
Yes, good old Occam. What would be more likely; that everything in the world occurs according to your viewpoint, or that you might be wrong in this instance??
“everything in the world” versus “you might be wrong in this instance.”
You know, the more you post, the more I’m reminded of a song lyric:
You bitch about people seeing the world in black and white, with no grey areas…but you yourself have decided what shade of grey is acceptable, and anything else, you declare as unacceptable. Have fun with your life, Prison Kitten. I’m grateful that there’s an ocean between us.
I might be reading too much into some of these posts, but the implication seems to be that I am lying, for some reason. I’ve also been accused of romanticizing - shall we say? - my accounts to show me in a favourable light, but wouldn’t this have been best achieved by my not mentioning my criminal past? Or are you also going to accuse me of being a braggard now?
Actually, I’m tired of talking about you at all.
I remember years ago reading a short article, which had nothing to do with crime, guns or theft.
In part of the article, the guy mentions that he couldnt do something that weekend because he had to go teach an ethics class at the local prison.
Of course everybody wondered why he did it. His answer was that if ANYBODY need to be taught basic ethics, it was prisoners.
Apparently we need more teachers.
You could type less if it is wearing you out?
You’ve had two threads that were all about you. That’s enough. I’m no longer willing to talk about you in any of these gun threads. You’ve given a nice lesson in the workings of the criminal mind, but you are of limited interest outside that.
If anybody has something left to say that isn’t about Ivan, I’m ready to talk.
Nope.
This is Great Debates, not Great Kvetches.
