I’m about to take my drum gear over to a friends house, however his cats like to pee on things, apparently plasic is a favorite for them. I’d love to be able to play there without my gear getting peed on, but I don’t know exactly what makes the cats want to pee on something in particular. My kit is on a carpet remnant (which would be rendered useless by cat pee) and there are a few pieces of valuable gear that sit on the floor. Is there a way I can make the cats more reluctant to pee on my stuff?
You can buy cat repellant in a spray can at any pet supply store. I’ve never used one but I have seen them for sale. Perhaps others will have personal experience with these products.
I’ve never found a product that worked. Sometimes the behavior can be changed, but your friend would have to work on that and it’s not going to be easy or quick.
Unless there’s a closet or something to lock them in, prepare to have them sprayed. And I do mean lock.
Maybe barking dogs would work? But, that’s not an option.
What makes female cats want to pee everywhere? I’ve had cats that never did this untill they reached 3 or 4 years old, what gives?
I use Stop Dog and Cat repellent. I don’t know about spraying but it has stopped my cat scratching the corners of my leather sofa. It needs to be reapplied every 12 hours though. Maybe you could cover the kit with a large sheet, that way if they do spray it’s easily washed and will keep the pee off your kit.
You could wrap/surround your drumkit with aluminum foil, cats hate to step on it, and it might do the trick. It worked for keeping my cat out of certain areas.
Although I do like cats, for cats that pee everywhere, might I suggest the following:

Sorry, but I really can’t handle cat piss all over my stuff.
