Catalogue programs?

I’ve been asked to make a catalogue at work, both a printed and perhaps some sort of digital version.

Well, their first idea was to use excel. Not the best choice for printing photos.

Here is what I have.

A few thousand photographs of items.
A serial number and description of the items.
What they want

Something that can print with the images of the items printing at ‘actual size’.

and that can be searched and viewed in a digital format, perhaps with thumbnails that will enlarge.

Any suggestions?

Either a simple html gallery or a pdf is probably your best bet unless you want to get complicated with some sort of Filemaker or SQl databse…

Would a PDF be searchable? If I wanted to look up a certain part number, could I do that?
