Mine used to like the sink but they’re too big to fit comfortably now. So the girl has taken to sitting on the small ledge at the front edge of the bathtub. I leave a trickle of water running. She sticks her paw in the trickle and licks the droplets off. Cutest damn thing ever. My boy cat is too fat to sit on the ledge but he wants in on the water action, so he sits in the tub and laps at the drain. Unfortunately he hasn’t figured out how to do that without getting the top of his head wet. Poor dope.
My cats don’t go in the sink so much as the bathtub. The faucet leaks a little, so they swat at the droplets or stick their faces underneath for a drink.
Cats sure do like a drippy drink from the faucet. If you get tired of being wheedled to turn on the faucet for thirsty kitties, you can get 'em their own water fountain.
It’s obviously the chance to curl up in a cool, clean, kitty-sized nest, plus the possibility of a nice drop of water or two on the tongue. Those sink-kitties look very happy, as if they’ve found their element.
My favorite website other than the SDMB for getting me through long and boring workdays, http://www.kittenwar.com , has many cute pictures of kittens and cats in sinks as well.
When my mom’s cat curls up in the sink, I sometimes have to fight an almost overwhelming urge to turn on the water full blast. I would never do it, but I have to admit that the urge is there.
I find mine liked hard surfaces a lot more when we were infested with flees. Haven’t had any in over 5 years now, thank goodness, and she’ll sleep just about anywhere. Now she likes anywhere my butt spends a lot of time the most. The chairs, my bed or a pile of dirty clothes are the most common ones.
Tuvix is a sweet 12-year-old mixed-breed kitty we adopted through Animal Aid. Although his coloring and eyes look Siamese, his body build, voice, and personality are not at all Siamese.
Our theory is that he just stole some Siamese guy’s coat.
Our two seem to prefer the shower. I think they prefer the cool surface during the heat of the day. Either that, or they like the smell of Irish Spring and Edge gel!
