Well, there’s lots of places on the net where you can get news (and I’m talking real news, not like the Fox, or fark.)
I frequent many news sites… CBC, which mirrors CBC radio and television- canada.com, which stands up to its URL - the Washinton Post frequently has good articles, - The BBC is quite nice - And of course there’s CNN.
So, I wanted to see what other countries were reporting nationally (I figure the above list probably covered it too, but still). I know enough French, so I was going to try to find the French entry to that list, but I don’t know how. I did manage to find the Australian Broadcasting Corp, but that seems to be it.
On a somewhat related note, I tried searching for aljazeera last week, but not only can I not read much of it, but there are so many sites with similar spelling I’m unlikely to have reached the one everyone was talking about.
So anyways, my question. I’m hoping to get a list of creditable news agencies (on-line, preferably) specific to a country.
Perhaps that’s not a question, and perhaps this ain’t the right place, but I’m not apologizing until someone calls me on it!
It would help i you could tell us which languages you can read. I gather a Dutch news site wouldn’t be very useful to you. French and German apparently are, seeing the thread title.
For finding foreign sites I usually use Yahoo. At the bottom of the screen there is a list of Yahoos for specific countries. For France it gives this list of newspapers. Figaro and Le Monde are well-known papers, so I guess you could check these.
Try http://www.thepaperboy.com/ for country by country listings.
I doubt that you’ll find any site with papers tied to unbiased credibility ratings. Reading widely seems to be the best way to determine who’s spinning and who’s not.

Excellent German-speaking are: www.spiegel.de (Der Spiegel newsmagazine; the magazine itself is a bit leftist, but the news site is good) www.tagesschau.de (Germany’s most reputated TV news program)
Nanoda: Good Question. I’ve already “Broadened my Horizons” by reading some non-US coverage of the Iraq War. Sometimes the English translation itself if amusing, as in Pravda’s edition:
I particularly enjoyed their coverage of the Academy Awards !
