I joined mainly for STD, but I also figured I’d have access to their entire library of shows. Not so, they only give you a small sample of them. I was in the middle of binging one show only to find out today that they took them away.
Also, when watching STD, there were a couple of times I needed to pause the show so I could have time to read whatever the hell those Klingons were saying (they were talking fast) Well, the thing is, when you pause the show, it takes away the captions!
If we ever have a repeat of the worst things we’ve bought, this is my contribution.
I mostly signed up to watch the Good Fight, but at a modest cost I might have continued my subscription. But the interface was buggy, the streaming quality was poor, the advertisements were far, far more repetitive, intrusive, repetitive, loud, and repetitive than I could possibly tolerate.
I have a hard time imagining a worse streaming service, save for one that sends a robot to my front door each day to kick me in the balls.
Yeah, “All Access” is a definite misnomer. We went to watch the last four episodes of the Big Bang Theory over the summer, only to find out they didn’t have 'em, with some sort of weird “they’re third party shows, so we don’t have whole seasons” disclaimer. This on some of their flagship programs!
Yep, It’s utter crap and they charge as much for it as Hulu or Netflix which has a much wider selection. It’s pretty much the reason we went from primarily watching CBS shows to never watching CBS shows once we cut the cord.
Wait, there are commercials on this service? Why would I pay separately for a streaming service and then have to suffer through commercials? I might as well watch broadcast TV or basic cable. So I’m glad I never seriously thought about subscribing. (Although I was a fan of The Good Wife and was kind of interested in the sequel show.)
Thanks for the warning! I was thinking we’d subscribe in December when things slow down for me, then binge Discovery, TBBT, and Little Sheldon. But wow, I can’t believe they don’t have all of TBBT! Maybe we’ll just wait for the whole season of Discovery to be finished and binge it during the seven-day trial.
There’s a two tier service, cheap with commercials or moderate price without. Oh my god, I cannot emphasize how awful the commercial interruptions were. But the Good Fight is a really enjoyable show, if you liked the Good Wife.
My wife is a huge Star Trek geek and refuses to sign up for this service. First of all, the initial reviews aren’t that great. Second, we already pay for Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO, Showtime and Stars as well as basic cable-----at what point are viewers going to say enough is enough with subscriptions?
At $8 million per episode, I think CBS may have stumbled on this and overestimated the gullibility of Star Trek fans. One of the joys of Star Trek TV series has been they have always been offered for free on broadcast TV. Frankly, The Orville is better.
I predict the series will be sold at a loss to Netflix, Amazon Prime or Hulu, if not shown for free on CBS in 2018. Save your cash.
