CBS News - More Ratheresque Pandering

Thought you folks should see these…
"In London, Amnesty International said both sides may have committed war crimes, including coalition missile attacks on Iraqi TV. The human rights group accused Iraqi forces of deliberately shelling civilians in Basra and placing military objectives close to civilians. "

How the hell does taking out a TV tower compare with using your own people as mortar targets? Maybe executing prisoners? I’m physically ill reading this. Has the entire world collectively lost it? The world seems to have shifted off its axis lately, I swear.

Also; from “Guess Who Got the Key to Detroit”:

"Yasso said that at the time, Saddam made donations to Chaldean churches around the world.

“He’s very kind to Christians,” Yasso said.

Chaldeans are a Catholic group in predominantly Muslim Iraq. Among prominent Chaldeans is Iraq’s deputy prime minister, Tariq Aziz.

A year later, Yasso traveled with about two dozen people to Baghdad as a guest of the Iraqi government, and they were invited to Saddam’s palace.

“We were received on the red carpet,” Yasso said.

Yasso said he presented Saddam with the key to the city, courtesy of then-Mayor Coleman Young. Then, Yasso said, he got a surprise.

“He said, `I heard there was a debt on your church. How much is it?”’ Yasso said.

Saddam donated another $200,000. "

So when does Saddam get to host his own @$%$ing reality show?

From your title it looks as though your saying that Rather is saying this. It looks more to me like he is merely saying what Amnesty International is asserting.

Did that make any sense?

Well, he’s big on structures. Palaces…lots of palaces…now churches…

Well, they are both reprehensible and they both fall under the category of war crimes. One act may be more reprehensible than the other, but both have definitely crossed over the line and belong in the same category.

I doubt if the dead civilian TV technician would care whether he/she died from a U.S. “smart bomb” or an Iraqi bomb or bullet.

Dead is dead.

But does taking out a tv tower neccesarily mean that any civilians were killed? Around here all our radio and TV towers are located in fields and on hills.

I don’t know, which is the only reason I ask.
