CD Class Action Lawsuit: Real or UL?

Well - for real or just a nice elaborate scheme?

It’s real but I am betting that the settlement goes to charity and not to those of us that applied for part of the settlement.

It’s real, but if you read the fine print, it says that if the settlement is less than $5 a person, it goes elsewhere. The more people who sign up, of course, the more likely this will happen.

So don’t sign up. I already have.

Snopes says it’s kosher. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth five bucks to surrender my personal information, including parts of my Social Security number.

AudreyK,
I hope there are a lot of other people like you out there. I have already signed up too.

Heck, I’d rather have them donate a ton of money to charity rather than send me $5, so I signed up hoping for the former result.

It’s legit and IMHO a rip-off to the consumers. Still, it’s true what the others say - you can get anywhere from $5-$20 (max) for forking over some personal information, but if a magic number of people join the class, the entire settlement amount goes to charity. I don’t know which charities will benefit, but I’m guessing it is a slew of them.

Every time I try to fill out the web form I get told the site is experiencing problems. So I ordered the paperwork to be sent and it hasn’t arrived weeks later. Bastards.
