Hey, I’m quite suprised that this hasnt been posted before but there has been a recent minimum advertized price antitrust lawsuit against major cd coperations. The payout? between 5-20 bucks.
Requirements to get in on this? Have you bought a cd between between 1995 and 2000? US citizen?
xeno , you just cost yourself any money, because once the teeming millions find out about this and sign up, there won’t be enough in the fund to make it worth cutting the check.
If too many people sign up and the checks wind up under $5 per person, the money goes to charity instead. Therefore, the more people you have sign up, the less likely you are to pocket anything.
Sure there’s a payout, just not to us. Charity gets it.
from the article
"There is one catch. If more than about 8.8 million people apply, in which case the per-person share would drop below $5, the customer part of the settlement will be canceled. Sending out such small checks is just too expensive.
Instead, the money will go to public entities and nonprofit organizations in each state to promote music programs. The settlement already calls for those organizations to receive 5.5 million CDs valued at $75.7 million. "
Not that I have any objection to giving it to charity, but sicne when do they stop just cause the checks get puny. I have gotten checks in the mail, from class actions that I didn’t even know I was part of, for .35, .16, and $1.23
and I do have a problem with that. Cause I’m imagining it will be a bunch of leftover crap, like 1.2 of Vanilla Ice, 8,000,000 New kids on the block, 750,000 Glitter soundtrack.
