I’ve one CD that’s causing me problems when I try to convert it for my MP3 player. No matter what I try, I get the same problem at the same places, with noise, such as clicks and buzzes. I’ve tried two CD drives, copying intact to hard disk and converting from there, etc. The problem always occurs. Any suggestions as to what might be going on?
How does the disc itself look? Any scratches or gunk on it? Does it have any anti-copying protection?
It’s a new disk, and I did check for visible problems. It’s from a small label, so I doubt they’re applying anti-copy measures…although that raises another possibiliy, that if they’ve used cut-price methods to produce the thing in the first place, will that make problems like this possible?
I’ve had a similar problem in the past. My Comp’s resources were too low. Try closing as many apps and TSRs as possible (including all the things in the system tray not needed)
Maybe try a different ripper, too.
A better ripping program can work wonders.
Try CDex. It’s free and works great. Go through the Settings, make sure to choose the drive you are using to rip the CD, and choose the “Paranoia, Full” ripping method. You could also try auto-detecting the CD type.
I should mention that the Paranoia Full method is far too slow for anything but problem CDs. If you like using CDex you can set the ripping method back to Standard and it will work much faster.
