Where is a good place to buy cheap CDR spindles, preferrably name brand?
If you are talking about non-mail order, Costco has some pretty good deals on Maxells.
I just bought a 50-spindle of Imation 80min/700 MB CD-R’s for 14.99 at Office Max. Lesse, that’s about $0.33 per disc. Not bad.
Two Sundays ago I saw Best Buy had 50 CD-R (80 minutes/ea.) + 25 slimline cases for $15 US.
The same week Office Depot or Max (but probably Depot) was selling a 100 pack of ‘CD-R Media’ (minute amount not listed, and not on an actual spindle, but rather bound together in thin plastic) for $15 US.
I usually get mine when Staples has a clearance of 100 spindle Imation units. In those situations I can usually pick them up for about 20.00 +/- for 100. I used to go the rebate route but rebate fullfillment houses have become so unreliable lately about honoring small rebates (and quite frankly I don't have the time or inclination to track 10 and 20 rebates)I usually stay away from rebates unless we're talking 50 and up rebates on items.
The cheapest deal on a per CDR basis I’ve ever seen is the deal Circuit City had last week with a rebate where you could get 200 CDRs for $ 10. after the rebate. I looked in the box though, and they had no label surface areas. Even “permanent” marker easily comes off a slick plastic surface with minor handling so I passed.
