Cecil the Bear -- The Lost is Found!

For reasons that I am not yet ready to divulge he needs to be here at my place at the end of October. Specifically the 26th of October.

Is that do-able?

Back in the states by October, huh? I don’t know. He’s going to be mailed to FCM early next week. Say, four or five days to get down there, then a couple weeks with her . . . . then he’s posted to Australia . . . I have no idea how long that will take . . . . Several people earlier expressed interest in showing him the sights in various locations Down Under, and I’d really like for that to happen, since he’ll have been mailed way the hell over there . . . . Basically, I have no idea how long he’ll be gone. It’ll depend on how many locations he’s going in Australia, and how long each stop takes him.

Had I to guess, I’d prolly guess . . . mid-October, probably not (sorry, MISS, that’ll be the second Doper wedding he’s missed :frowning: ); late October maybe but, realistically, probably not. I’ve tried not to tell people how long to keep him – they can have him as long as there’s stuff they want to do with him. Then they let me know when he’s ready to move on and I give 'em the addy to send him to. Besides, even as early in his adventures as this is, he’s shown that due to the vagaries of the postal system, he’s not very good at keeping a schedule. I guess I’ll know more once he arrives in Australia.

Though now of course I’m dying of curiousity, CHANCE.

Umm do I smell a Doperween at the Chance’s?

Well, even if Cecil can’t make the Vegas wedding, Miss Moose would dearly love to participate in the festivities! Especially since I goofed and didn’t get her to MsRobyn in time for her happy day. So, Miss C, send me an e-mail with address and details and I’ll have the lovely and charming FairyChatMoose cleaned up, spiffily attired, and on her way.

And in conjunction with this adventure - any Jacksonville Dopers interested in meeting at the Landing for a photo op with the Bear and Moose? Email in my profile. I also plan to take them to the spring at Green Cove Springs, and they must be photographed in front of the Blue Angels plane at the main gate of NAS Jax. And I’m certain the Perfect Child[sup]TM[/sup] would escort them around the roller rink where she works - they could try out the new climbing wall!!!

Great fun to be had by all! I’m so excited!

Jodi, YES, the antipodopers are still interested! (I just checked my email a few minutes ago)

I’ve resurrected this thread on the G’Dope board to remind everyone about Cecil, and to give ‘em a kick in th’ bum because time had flown and he’s coming here soon. I’ll get a (rough) timetable together for him, and within the next several days, I’ll be able to let you know which Australian city will be hosting him first (I’m guessing Brisbane at this stage), and then I’ll be able to supply you with an address. I’ll keep you posted via email.

Jonathan Chance, mate, I’ll see if I can work things out so that CtB is back in the United States in time for you (you are in the States, right?). I originally had a notion to forward him to Japan, but I don’t think there’s a deadline for that destination, so back to the US is fine by me. But no promises. International Bear Logistics isn’t something I’ve had an awful lot of experience with. But I’ll try.

Hello, everyone! Cecil has been having a good time here at Chez Punky. I got temporarily swamped by life, which is why he’s still here, but he has met Lucy, been to the State Fair grounds, the State Capital, St. Paul Cathedral, and Midway Stadium. I resisted the Mall of America, I couldn’t quite bring myself to do it. He has also whipped my little furry pack into shape. He doesn’t put up with much, that Cecil!

Checking the thread, I see that I somehow didn’t actually get together with any other TC Dopers. He does need to head out to Florida SOON, but does anyone else want a picture with him, say, Monday or Tuesday? Then I can still get him headed south within a reasonable time frame. Let me know quick!

Where is CecilTheBear now ?

Australia is ready and waiting for the adventurous bear

[Assumes the protest position]

We Want The Bear! We Want The Bear!

[/protest]

Why do I have visions of every Aussie male poster offering to take CtB to one of our famous beaches and asking a skimpily-clad beach bunny to pose for a pic with the touring bear?

someone please tell me he’s arriving before Schoolie’s week

We could take CtB to the Gold Coast and get him a job at Surfers Paradise Beach spraying suntan lotion onto the girl’s. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey, if he can get to Perth by the 24th of November, I’ll take him on a tour of the south-west! It’ll be round schoolies time, too

'nother link for the Aussies

here

and, I’ll take him on one of my trips around while working.

Cecil is on his way. I have been laid up from a minor car accident (ironically, from a trip to the post office), but I am getting about much better now. Cecil has (unintentionally) kept me company, but will be resuming his journey.

Any 'Merrykin specialties I ought include as a 'sorry-for-the-delay" apology gift for youse Aussie Dopers?

Hey, I hope the litle fella’s coming over to the UK

I offered to take him around Cambridge when I lived there, but I’ve moved, but I’ll be more than happy to show him around my new city, Birmingham…

Hm… I also was on the CTB list, but have moved. Should I send you my new address Jodi?

THANK YOU SCREECHIE!! I was getting a tad worried, though not overly so.

Yes, anyone with new addies should send them and I’ll update the list, though I make no promises as to when he’s going to get to any particular place. But I’m glad he’s on his way again.

Where art thou CtB?

Good question. Though the last person who had him said he was mailed on, apparently that didn’t get done. Despite repeated e-mail appeals to the person who I assume still has him, I haven’t been able to get an answer on where the bear is, or whether it would be possible to either send him on or send him home.

It’s no big deal, of course; it’s just a stuffed bear. And I knew that I was running a risk that he’d get lost or just not sent on. I just didn’t expect that to happen quite so quickly. :frowning:

I hope the person who has him knows that it’s really not a big deal. If she’s decided to keep him, I honestly hope she enjoys having him around. No hard feelings.
