Comedienne Kristen Schaal
Singer Inara George of the Bird and the Bee
William Fichtner. First time I saw him was on Rosanne and thought he was incredibly sexy. Don’t think I have seen a picture where I don’t think he is still hot
My wife is quite into Ray Romano. Thinks he’s super hot, specifically from his role on Parenthood.
Adrien Brody. Actually, I’m not sure whether most people would consider him hot.
Robert Carlyle
You know, Asimovian, I have loved and lost a lot of strange looking women, but, as far as having no explanation, I think you’ve trumped me.
Thank you for this. Restores my faith in humanity. ![]()
When she became Willow’s love interest, there were a lot of so-called fans of *Buffy *who abused and disrespected her, calling her fat and unattractive. They were wrong on so many counts. I’m still really sore about that, so I instinctively speak up in her defense. She isn’t fat at all, she just has a robust skeletal structure. As a big-boned girl myself, it sure was nice to have her around.
My thoughts precisely. Willow got a (hot) new girlfriend late in the last season, but that relationship seemed merely perfunctory or pro forma, whereas Willow/Tara was fully developed and integral to the show. *Buffy *is my favorite show of all time, with Willow/Tara as the high point of it all.
The last time I saw Amber she was playing a stripper or hooker in the recent Sarah Michelle Gellar vehicle *Ringer *(which only lasted for one season, and Amber’s character was only seen in flashbacks and even then scarcely at all, blink and you’d miss her).
Melanie Lynskey would be my choice, though since Two and a Half Men she’s getting noticed more.
She has been writing UF. The Calliope Reaper-Jones series has 5 novels. That is a solo effort. She co-wrote and directed the animated web-series Ghosts of Albion with Christopher Golden. The duo then novelized the series, Astray, Initiation, Accursed & Witchery. She has a YA novel illustrated by Sina Grace called Among the Ghosts.
You are not the only one. Is it wrong that I like him best in full Rumpelstiltskin?
I thought I’d be the first to say Robert Carlyle, but now I feel like such a cliche.
And Indyellen, not wrong at all - he’s the reason I started watching the show in the first place and the reason I put up with episodes full of Mulan and Princess Pout in season two.
Beelzebubba - I am totally with you on Rob Corddry! If other people don’t like him, that’s fine - more Rob for me! (I’ll share him with you if you’re nice.)
Similarly, people look at me like I’ve grown another head when I say that Steve Carell is the aforementioned “sex on legs.” To me, he’s got the perfect combination of classic good looks and boyish cuteness. And that hairy chest - woof!
I also agree about Jim Hanna, the adorable dad from the Cox Cable commercials. I don’t know that I’d jump his bones, but he’s definitely a cutie.
I’m pretty sure Dan Futterman is not generally considered unattractive. Frankly, I don’t know why he doesn’t get more work.
I’ve got a few of my own whom I’ll mention when I think of them.
To me, Robert Carlyle looks like a shrunken version of Hugh Jackman (which I’ve always thought was a little weird, because when I heard about the first X-Men movie being made I thought Carlyle would have made an amazing Wolverine). Same goes for Top Gear’s Richard Hammond, who would probably be my adorkable choice.
Ricky Gervais. OMG he does something for me I just can’t explain. I love his smile. His sharp little vampire teeth. His eyes.
Damn, you beat me to her.
She was in a class my ex-husband taught just a bit before she broke big. Can’t recall the exact topic, but modern esoteric new religious moments had something to do with it. She made an absolutely beautiful painting of the goddess Ostara that took my breath away. She must have spent some time on it, but when her presentation was over, she walked away from the painting, no interest in keeping it. My husband brought it home and we put it over our altar.
He says she was brilliant, but odd. Very odd. Apparently her “schtick” on The Daily Show isn’t really much schtick. Which makes her just that much cooler.
Brendan Coyle, aka Mr. Bates on Downton Abbey. Yowzer.
Oh definitely! It’s hard to believe thisis Michael Scott!
+1!
Brendan Coyleis immediately who I thought of! Swoon.
(And here I can brag that I’m going to see him on stage in a couple months! Woot!)
I can’t think of a lot of odd-looking, unattractive women for me to like who are actresses or otherwise celebrities. I think lookism works a lot harder on women in media then men. Even TV ugly is pretty attractive … Jane Garofalo was really cute by any reasonable standard. Better looking than Uma Thurman IMHO.
