Celebrities you find strangely attractive

At the laundromat today, I saw rising actress Carey Mulligan (best known for “An Education” and the sequel to “Wall Street”) on this magazine cover. She’s flat as a board, has an unflattering hair cut with a shaky dye job, and doesn’t have particularly agreeable facial features either. Yet I’ve always thought of her as very sexy. Any other celebrities you find attractive for a reason you can’t explain?

Well, it’s not strange that I find them attractive, but there is this Mary Louise Parker, Ione Sky, the Mother from that sitcom, where the American Dad is played by a fat Bald Englishman and it’s in syndication on some woman’s network Dynamic. Rounded off by that the chick from Becker, Shawnee They all combine to hit some cosmic, sexual sweet spot for me… they all have a kindred spirit. My ultimate 4sum. It’s some kind of Kismet, a quadratic equation of pure sexual spirit and demureness.

I like that Orwell chick on “the Cape.” I am not usually attracted to that type of look (e.g. thirteen on House) but I think it might be because she’s a computer geek.

Ellen Barkin?

Tilda Swinton. She has this sort of reptilian beauty.

She’s very cute. I don’t see what’s wrong with her at all. She’s supposed to be unattractive? :dubious: OK, she clearly does look like an actual human being and not some boring airbrushed Barbie doll superstar, but that just makes her *more *attractive, in my opinion.

Clea Duvall. When I look at a photograph, she doesn’t impress me at all, but whenever I see her act, she’s absolutely captivating.

+1 on Tilda Swinton. That woman is a poem made flesh.

Kate Winslet. I think she’s extremely plain and a little chubby, but when she acts she has this effusive energy that’s impossible to resist.

Uh… Willem Dafoe. Cannot be explained.

Karen Gillan.
I really don’t have the hots for her like some I don’t find her figure attractive at all but I fnd her character in Dr Who strangely captivating and charming., I guess that also means she can act.
and I really like this pic of her:

Jami Gertz

Don’t agree with the OP - loved Mulligan ever since “Blink”.

I don’t know why I find Joan Cusack attractive - I mean, I know why I find her funny and how that makes her attractive, I just don’t know why I see her as sexy, when she’s hardly ever cast or presented that way. I 'd have said Addams Family Values made an impression on me, if I didn’t have this attraction beforehand.

Yes, that’s her… as a group Parker, Sky, Shawnee, and Gertz almost form their very own genre of actress.

certain cartoon characters… like the secretary on Archer who likes to be choked out, or Francine on American Dad.

Agreed. I’m not sure Clea Duvall has ever taken a good picture. But she’s great in everything and “captivating” is a good word.

Is this going to be one of those threads where people name people pretty much everyone would consider to be attractive and pretend they’re somehow weird for it?

Edit: Not that all of the entries have been like that, but for example Superhal finds Summer Glau attractive? A bold, bizarre stance! Not trying to pick out him in particular, just the most obvious example, and past threads feature a lot of that sort of thing.

Don’t know if she qualifies as a celebrity, but Jennifer Carpenter, who plays Dexter’s sister Debra. She looks to be about six feet tall and weigh about 85 lbs., but I find her very attractive.

Sofia Coppola too, though I’m sure lots of people would find that a stretch. She kind of reminds me of this timid little girl in one of my classes in high school. I think it’s her mouth.

And speaking of mouths, I’ve always thought Scarlett Johannson and Paris Hilton were attractive but their mouths look odd.

My current celebrity crush though is Penelope Ann Miller. Just saw her in an episode of A&E’s Nero Wolfe Mysteries. Her nose is kind of large and has a flat spot on the top of the bridge, she has this tiny little canine tooth and a small scar on her right cheek from an automobile accident when she was young, but she’s very cute and feminine and really knows how to turn on the charm.

I always had a thing for country singer Pam Tillis, even though she has a sort of odd, asymmetrical face that can look weirdly bloated from certain angles. Still, something about her does it for me.

I’ve always found myself drawn to Jessica Alba, I don’t know what it is. Her knees are a little too sharp and she’s about 3 cm taller than fits her body shape but for some reason she really does it for me.

Another one that’s kinda strange (I hope nobody makes fun of me for this!) is Jennifer Connelly. Her knees aren’t sharp, thank God, but her eyebrows are a shade too dark and this one time I saw her in an interview and she had a couple flyaway hairs. Despite that I find myself attracted to her, it’s weird.

Christopher Eccleston. WOOF!
just sayin’
I have no idea why - he just hits that *frisson *of something that works for me.
