Celebrities that rub you the wrong way

Mischa Barton because I’ve never seen an interview that she doesn’t go on and on at length about how wonderful she is and then manage to sneak in a jellyfishing comment about a co-worker or other actresses. Like “oh, it’s not like he’s traditionally hot so I can’t believe I was so attracted to him” or she said something about the short busty brunette on the OC once that was such a put-down along the lines of “it must suck to be that voluptuous because unlike me she won’t get taken seriously” or how being on TV is so much better than movies (yeah right, like you wouldn’t jump at the chance to be in a movie!). It isn’t the arrogance that bothers me, just the jellyfishery.

Jim Crey really pisses me off for no reason. I think it’s his face, It ruins the movie.

Howard Stern
Jeannine Girafolo
Kirsten Dunst
Drew Barrymore

My husband is now saying this after we saw that movie.

Mudshark - Jim Crey? I assume you mean Jim Carrey? And I agree with you, by the way - he gets more annoying all the time. I think he started believing his own press awhile ago.

No kidding. Does her job description really say “Sit there, basically do nothing, occasionally make inane comments and then snicker at what you just said as though it was actually funny, even though you are always, and I mean always, the only one laughing.”

I read once that Stern is highly loyal to her because she stuck up for him or saved his job or something once upon a time when he was little known, and so now he’s basically taking her along on the ride even though she contributes virtually nothing worthwhile to the show.

I saw a pictorial on her huge high-rise apartment in Manhattan in Architectural Digest, and you would simply not believe it. Decorated like she were a cross between Donald Trump and the Queen of England. And really expensive stuff, too. If you found some old money billionaire living there, you would think it was appropriate. Surely there is no one in this country who gets paid more for doing less.

Cripes!

I listen to Howard every morning and find myself saying “SHUT UP ROBIN JUST SHUT UP!” every few minutes. I really hope her silly little talk show just tanks.

Or Ronald Reagan…it certainly screwed his political ambitions.

It’s a fact that only conservative or Republican entertainers know what they’re talking about – Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mel Gibson, Bruce Willis, Tom Selleck, Fred Thompson, Sonny Bono, Fred Grandy, George Murphy, Charlton Heston, etc. Now that Clint Eastwood’s no longer looking like a reliable conservative, he’s being told to shut up. Since Ron Silver has come to his senses, he’s now allowed to talk about politics.

And the thing is, those guys (most of them that you mention) are willing to put their butts on the line and work to create the laws and the changes they favor. They give up their cushy celebrity lifestyles, suffer the dirt and indignities of the campaign trail, run for office, actually take office, and then work within the system to make a difference.

Good on 'em, I say!

This, as opposed to the likes of Garofolo, Streisand, Baldwin, Reiner, et al., ad nauseum, who try to effect change by throwing money and criticism around and conceitedly relying on their star power to try to make a difference.

I’d have a lot more respect for the libs above if they did the same and I wouldn’t be nearly as incensed over their efforts. If Barbra Streisand or Alec Baldwin actually ran for and took office in order to try to effect the change they favor, I’d have quite a bit of admiration for them, actually, rather than the contempt I have now.
