Celebrities You Irrationaly Hate

Johnny Depp and Keanu Reeves.

I agree about Depp, but I usually let Keanu off the hook because he is supposed to be such a nice, unassuming, and very generous person IRL.

I reserve my loathing for the undeserved celebrities (Kardashians, Paris Hilton, Snookie, etc.)

Your dad should have been buddies with my dad, who subscribed to the theory that Hanoi Jane was beyond redemption.

They could have not gone to see On Golden Pond together…

Like ZonexandScout, my loathing is largely directed at untalented, undeserving celebrities, including celebrity children who get acting and modeling jobs because of who they are.

But my Number One Hate has always been reserved for Brooke Shields. It’s probably actually her mother I should hate, but I could not stomach broadcasting a child’s virginity to the world while simultaneously pimping her out as a sex object.

Since Brooke grew up, I find her to be untalented and phony. I don’t even think she’s beautiful. To me, she looks as transsexual as Caitlyn Jenner.

Number Two Hate: Sofia Vergara. Screaming with an accent does not constitute acting.

Jeremy Clarkson.

He makes Top Gear unwatchable for me. I can’t stand an arrogant, classist Brit who thinks his role in the world is to criticize and ridicule Americans (along with other countries.) It’s not “funny,” it’s sanctimonious.

I like when she told Tom Cruise to STFU about psychiatry.

I think we have the same brain.

I agree that Meryl Streep is overrated and her breathy voice annoys me.

I have long disliked Meryl Streep and avoided going to any movies she appears in, largely on the basis of loathing her character in Kramer vs. Kramer. How irrational is that?

It didn’t help that she also played Karen Silkwood, central figure in a highly suspect conspiracy theory.

I hesitate to call hating Fran Drescher anything but rational. But yeah, that’s my pick.

Like, do we have to even mention Gilbert Godfried?

my ex wife hates Elvis, Jeff Goldblum and Trump. She hated Trump 20 years ago.

For me I don’t like Bob Costas , he seems really phony.

Yuck. No. Both him and Drescher rely on being annoying as a form of comedy. Who the fuck does that work for?

Sounds perfectly rational to me, because I avoided Ms. Streep’s films for exactly the same reason.

Fortunately, my boycott lasted for only a few years, after which I realized how very good an actress she is, and since the mid 1980’s I’ve considered her to be “our” greatest living actress.

Angelina Jolie her fake philanthropy and entitlement get on my nerves. Hate her lips too.

Betty Fucking White

Sigourney Weaver. I think it’s her bitch face - she is so pointy/angular-ish to look at. I don’t like her and avoid seeing movies she is in…and it is completely irrational.

Put me on the list for Nicholas Cage. The WORST bit of acting I’ve ever witnessed & for which he won an Academy Award (WTF?) in Leaving Las Vegas. He was cool in Raising Arizona from way back, but I hate him for winning an award for being so awful in that movie.

While I agree with the sentiment re Nicholas Cage, I have to acknowledge “Bringing Out the Dead” as a good movie with Cage as the lead. But that’s. One. Movie.

There’s a lot of negativity on this thread about (especially female) actors’ looks as the reason to detest them. There is a subtle division between being a little bitchy as opposed to being irrational.

I had a cringe-worthy dream this morning that Gemma Atherton read this thread, saw me at a signing, and called me out over it.

Well, allow me to attempt to return a bit of balance, if I may. I actually don’t have a problem with most of the actors mentioned here, but do have a couple irrational, appearance-based dislikes of my own:

Ernest Borgnine: for the abrasive, braying voice, the pot belly, the general…sweatiness of the man;

Billy Crystal: for the mannered menschiness (is that a word?) and the years haven’t been kind; recently it seems like someone accidently dropped a manhole cover on his face.

He seems to have laid off the botox more recently.
