I know Steve Kerr (formerly a chicago bulls teammate of michael jordan). his mom and my parents are good friends, hes been over a few times (a while ago).
my family is friends with the prince of jordan (he was crown prince until hussein changed his mind). i went and had a pleasant evening in his palace last summer
i dont know if it counts, but i go to quaker meeting with dave matthews mother. and i go to the same pool with his sister and i take guitar lessons from the guy who teached his nephew…but thats stretching it, isnt it?
i dont know if youve heard of him, but john mccutcheon has been nominated for several grammies. i know him pretty well.
i like having some connections
…nevermind. i just realised that he died in 1996.
my mistake.
Oh, also, my dad knows the guy who supposedly created the Blues Brothers. I wouldn’t say he’s much of a celebrity (hell, I don’t even remember his name), but it’s kind of worth noting.
I know Larry Fullerton.
Kentucky woman checking in … WHO? WHO??
I know Bob and Tom of morning radio fame. My husband’s uncle plays with their band and I’ve been to their live show and had my picture taken with the famous voice behind “Prisoner of Love” and the woman with the Ethel Merman-type voice. Kristi and I chatted about our pregnancies and Bob hugged me.
When I was younger I hung out in the same little punk rock arcade scene that produced Sloan and Sarah McLachlan. In fact I played street hockey with Sloan not 6 months ago.
I had kd lang offer to buy me a beer I was 14 at the time and I turned her down, but she was very nice. We talked about everything and Madonna.
I once did an acting workshop with Dave Broadfoot.
My mom had Irving Layton over to her house for breakfast in the 70’s.
My mom’s best friend went to high school with Dan Ackroyd. They recently re-established contact and Dan called her from his cottage in Ontario, where he was partying with The Rolling Stones. She got to talk to Mick Jagger on the phone. We all thought she was going to have a heart attack.
One of my friends did concert setup and teardown this summer. He got drunk with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and smoked weed with Foo Fighters and Limp Bizkit.

My parents neighbors are Shaquille O’neil’s parents. I went to high school with his little brother. We hung out at each others houses all the time. Shaq was around a lot when he was playing in the Magic. I totally don’t like him, but his brother is very cool. Don’t know how they are related, except they look alike (his brother is cuter)
I interned at a local theater company this summer. I got to know John Ritter, Sada Thompson (She was in Family, a tv show from a long time ago), Len Cariou (The original Sweeney Todd), Bruce Davison (The senator in “X-Men”, among many others), and Marc Wolf. Nice people, all.
(breathtaking arrogance) I’ve been awarded a Vice Versa award for gay and lesbian journalism, and I’ve had one of my plays performed several times. (/breathtaking arrogance)
My sister’s best friend in for a few years in elementary school was Jennifer Beck. She was a regular on Father Murphy, Paradise, and she played the 5 year old Elizabeth (half alien kid) in V.
In high school I knew Brooke Thiess who was on Just the 10 of Us (dippy blonde older sister, maybe twins with Jamie Luner?), and I think was a regular on BH 90210 for a while when they were in college.
I know the author, but who’s the rock star?
Can’t say I know any at the moment. But in my younger days I used to hang out with The Ramones alot, my sister dated Johnny for awhile. I also hung out with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones whenever they where in the Tri-State area. I partied with Matt Pinfield almost every weekend, he DJed at the bar I frequented and he lived in the same condo complex as my dad.
I knew Bijou Philips growing up. She’s the daughter of John Philips of the Mamas and Papas, and also apparently has a recording/acting/modeling career. She was in Playboy recently - it was odd getting an email from my parents telling me to check out Playboy.
Thanks! It was cool. He was a wonderful teacher, helped me a lot with my drawing.

and i would hardly consider tv crewmembers celebrities. **
[/QUOTE]
Well…they can be celebrities in their own little circles. My late friend David got compliments from people on his costuming work for Bette Midler. And one of my other “crewmember” friends did a VERY low budget independent film. Another friend did alien special effects on Star Trek TNG. I’m sure there were people out there who recognized and appreciated his work.
Oh, I forgot another one - another friend who wrote one of the original “Star Trek” episodes.
A friend’s mom knew Jerry Garcia, and did lines with him. There’s a picture of the two of them in front of a big package of coke.
My dad went to law school with Neil Boortz. (Libertarian talk show host)
Official Presidential Friend Vernon Jordan’s daughter and her family live in my neighborhood.
We’re family friends of the Shickely’s, of PDQ Bach fame.
I’m blanking right now, but a family member on my mom’s side went to school with Terry Gilliam and still keeps in contact with him.
Best yet, my father graduated from Harvard with the Unabomber. (Though that’s more of a brush with infamy than actually knowing a person. Still thought it was worth mentioning.)
I was briefly a co-worker of Catherine Bell of JAG, Michael Worth - an actor who has starred in a few kick boxing movies, and Rodney Allen Rippey.
I don’t know any celebrities, but Jaques Cousteau once tied his plane up to my families dock.
