So the season is over already?
Interesting how so few people seem to care.

My wife and I were wondering the same thing about Sharon being missing. didn’t even notice Goldberg wasn’t there either…
Hmmmm…
What a cop out. He should have hired Holly and knew it - but went with Brett for some ill-founded sympathy vote. Yeah - it’s hard to not vote for the guy recovering from a stroke and a near-stroke, but you have to judge this on merit. So of course, he found the easy way out - give them both the reward and make the win meaningless.
Ultimately, the audience was the winners, getting to see Holly in that dress. Wow. Rodney Peete, I salute you.
Well, I do have to say that Holly did lose 2 of the 3 tasks she was project manager for. Yes, she raised a ton of money, but should she get credit for all that (honest question)? Was it due to her contacts that they got that money, or was some (or a larger portion) due to her teammates?
Either way, Brett was very creative and he came up with a lot of things the various companies liked quite a bit.
Very good points. Brett was much more successful as PM, and was a much better all-around team member (maybe the best ever). However, when it comes to Trump, I think that Holly was a much better fit - she’s much more cutthroat, and much more capable of fitting into a corporate role than anyone in the season. Snapple’s “she could be on our board of directors” should have sealed the deal.
Well, first of all, Trump isn’t hiring anybody in this show. But the idea that someone would be good on the BOD doesn’t mean they would be a good employee in other ways. Snapple certainly felt Brat had a better sensibility in relation to their product and would trust him to do marketing, for example. That’s the thing of course, business people are hired for different roles, there is no universal business person. Holly was not better than Bret, just different, and thehy awere both very effective in their own way. I think Bret could have won on merit alone, although I do think the sympathy vote was a factor, which I have no problem with.
I think Bret absolutely deserved his win. He had a few rocky points in the series, but he never turned stupid, he was consistently creative and enthusiastic, he did well as PM, he impressed various corporate people, he’s a pleasant guy, he was never a jerk or an asshole to anybody, and it was nice “fuck you” to everybody who thought he would fuck up on the very first challenge.
Well, I just watched my tape, and learned I screwed up and taped only the first hour.
My type ends just after they started showing the board room – Trump was congratulation Strawberry for being brave enough to come back (? huh? Usually Trump is nothing but scornful of people who quit, which is what he basically did.) And then click.
So… clearly Brett won. I’m not heartbroken over missing the next hour, but I’m curious if anything especially amusing happened or was revealed in the rest of the show?
And, what was that about Trump giving them both the prize – does that just mean equal donations to their charities or what?
Snapple matched the 250,000 prize so that both charities would get the money, even though Bret was hired.
Yeah. That seemed more a consolation prize to Holly than anything else, basically their way of saying, “We think you should have won, but Brett’s story makes for a better narrative, so we’re naming him the winner. Anyway here’s $250,000, what you would have gotten anyway, to make up for it.”
You’re right - but I think that Bret and Holly were on Regular Apprentice, he’d have hired Holly, because that’s what Trump is looking for in these shows. Someone who is an excellent manager, represents his brand well, and plays the corporate game.
The fact that he got Snapple to give Holly’s charity another $250,000 tells me that he was looking for a way to reward her for “winning” while not looking like a jackass being the guy firing the stroke survivor. In no way do I think Bret did a bad job or isn’t worth hiring - I was rooting for him this season, but I think Holly’d make a much better Trump love connection.
Bret deserved to win, because everything about the guy screams douchebag - but he really proved to be a good guy. I don’t think one contestant would say anything bad about the guy, and that’s before the stroke.
I also agree that the measuring stick should be victories as PM, not cash brought in. Holly definitely had an abrasive leadership style that marginalized folks, and I think she should have been fired on the decorating task. I guess Trump didn’t want two singers in the final.
Summer came across very well, but not so much that WWE chick. I so appreciated hearing her complain about Curtis taking a shit in her room. Classy. But at the same time, Curtis, dude, ever hear of matches? Now the world knows you as a Shameless Shitter.
I liked Curtis from before CA and if it was actually a competition based on, you know, how well people played the game, he would have done very well. But he’s not a household name.
Anybody else shocked to learn that Holly’s dad was the original Gordon on Sesame Street? That was cool.
Ah. Thanks for the info!
Apparently, my DVRed choked on this recording. It was listed in the playlist, but the content was empty. I wound up watching it on NBC’s website.
I saw both Holly and Bret as fairly evenly matched, and honestly…going with the sympathetic choice when the two competitors are so close is just fine with me. I mean, sweet fuck, since that final episode aired Bret had emergency appendectomy, a massive brain hemorrhage (that is instantly fatal for something like 50% of cases), a mini-stroke, and NOW has been diagnosed with a hole in the heart and will need open heart surgery in the fall. For the love of God, let the man win. Who the fuck cares if maaaaaaaybe Holly was more deserving? Geeez, she even was somewhat rooting for him and said her OWN CHILD that morning had said, “Mom, I kinda hope Bret wins.” It’s okay. (By the way, I’m not arguing with any particular Doper or anything; it’s more how I felt in assessing the situation.)
My guess on Sharon is that she was somehow involved with America’s Got Talent, which is in production right now and gearing up to start the next season. Most likely she and Goldberg had contractual obligations with conflicting schedules.
I can tell you I’m drinking a Trop-A-Rocka right now and its delicious.
I’ve been curious to try it, but I’m not a big fan of diet drinks. Does this have much of a “diet” flavor?
I should preface this to say that I’m Type II Diabetic and haven’t had a regular soda in quite awhile.
That said- I’m also not a real big fan of diet drinks. In general, I’ll take the regular every time. But I thought this was pretty good. Will it have the same punch as the non-diet, probably not. But I enjoyed it more than diet soda.
I have high triglycerides and have been eliminating sugar from my diet in the past month or so to try and get healthy.
I bought a 6 pack of Trop-A-Rocka, and I have to concur on the deliciousness. The cinnamon really does eliminate almost all of the “it’s a diet drink” nasty aftertaste. I think it’s really good stuff.
hmmm, I have never consumed a snapple.
I honestly do not know if they are available in this region.
