Celebrity Apprentice 2011 is coming. The first episode is this Sunday, March 6. Here is a list of “celebrities,” a few of which I am clueless on their identity.
Lil Jon
Gary Busey
Hope Dworaczyk
John Rich
Richard Hatch
David Cassidy
Niki Taylor
NeNe Leakes
Dionne Warwick
Jose Canseco
Star Jones
Lisa Rinna
Mark McGrath
Marlee Matlin
Meat Loaf
La Toya Jackson
I am not really a fan of reality TV, much less celebrity-themed reality TV, but I kind of got into last season’s Celebrity Apprentice with Bret Michaels and Goldberg. This season, I will definitely be pulling for Busey and Canseco. And og help us they land on the same team. However, as much I generally dislike her, I’d pick Star Jones as the frontrunner.
So, who you got?
They’re not really comparable in my mind. Driving drunk can kill other people, steroid use is illegal because it’s cheating, the only one actually harmed is the one taking the drugs.
I haven’t watched any of the prior seasons but I’m watching this one. I want to see how NeNe Leakes (Real Housewives of Atlanta) fares with people who don’t have to be nice to her.
NeNe was one of the people I did not know. But having researched her, it appears as though Star Jones has already said that they do not get along. So that could make things interesting. But really, you know Gary Busey is going to be worth watching at least the first episode. He’ll be gone after that.
You don’t think these people have teams of support staff hovering just outside of camera range? They don’t live together - someone mentioned them being in individual hotel rooms. That shit don’t fly for the “celebrities”.
I love the level of crazy and cluelessness here. Cassidy is especially surprisingly terrible. Star Jones has been impressive - she’s running a terrible operation, but it’s all about bringing in the donations. And these guys don’t have a clue about that. Hatch will play the game in the board room, but he cannot compete as PM in Celebrity Apprentice. If it was normal Apprentice, he’d probably win this round. (I have not seen the whole episode.)
Wow - did David Cassidy just go with the “I could have taken him if I wanted to” non-threat?
I think Trump is finally getting a hang of this thing. He used to really tend towards the groupthink desire, and would have voted Richard off a few seasons ago. This was the right decision. But for a two-hour episode, I’m surprised they didn’t show the actual reasons Cassidy was terrible. Very little was mentioned about his fundraising, nothing was shown regarding his ineptness of cutting vegetables, and I’m surprised Richard didn’t plant seeds of “look how many smoke breaks David’s taking” during the challenge to get backup in the boardroom.
Not a ton of crazy yet, but it’s building. I can’t wait.
Oh fuck me, I can’t believe Trump is pulling this “who has the richest friends” horseshit again.
Say what you will about Richard Hatch, but why the hell would anyone think he has a bunch of well-heeled friends, or at least well healed enough to make a five-figure donation at the drop of a hat. He’s just some guy who won a reality show (and went to prison for not paying the taxes on his winnings). He doesn’t run in showbiz high level corporate circles.
Also, is it just me, or did Gary Busey look like he was channeling Cosmo Kramer?
I missed the intro, and for a few minutes thought that David Cassidy was Mickey Gilley.
Trump made the right decision but Canseco could have just as easily gone. If he stays around long enough to be a project manager, it’ll be interesting. He seems a bit dim, and Trump seems to agree.
Surprised that David Cassidy has no friends/family in NYC who could have come up with some bucks. Has he lived in California all his life? I’ve never heard of his daughter but I don’t watch Gossip Girl.
Hatch is abrasive and controlling but sometimes that style is successful. He might hang around if he’s willing to take direction, not just give it.
I was impressed with Nikki Taylor. Maybe she’ll hang back, do her job, and let the sharks eat each other up.
But all of those things happened. Well I think Hatch only told the camera about the smoke breaks but they showed that Cassidy was terrible at pizza preparation, had to beg his daughter to come down and was shown taking multiple breaks.
Wow, I can’t believe Hatch messed up so bad. He was brilliant in Survivor at building alliances. Hatch managed to piss everyone off on his Apprentice team. He’s totally dug himself a hole.
Poor David. I’m sure he’s a nice guy. But, he’s obviously not an aggressive enough personality for a show like this. He’s been in show business since 1970 and he has to beg his daughter for a donation? Where were all his friends in show business? He must know a lot of other stars.
Yeah, but in the Apprentice you just need an alliance of two - you and Trump. It’s not a long-term strategy here, because CA is all about having rich friends.
Marlee Matlin is a respected Oscar-winning actress, who has been in countless movies & TV shows (basically whenever they need a deaf character, they use her.) I wouldn’t put her in the same ‘celebrity’ category as the others you mentioned, who I guess are ‘famous’ for being on a bunch of C-list reality shows.
And I’m glad Trump made the right decision. They didn’t lose the task because of Hatch, they lost it because they did not raise enough money. Cassidy raised barely any money, plus he was the weakest at the actual pizza parlor (unlike Canseco & Busey who, as Hatch agreed, worked their asses off selling pizzas) therefore he should be the one to go.
