I live in Hicksville USA. Reading the Wiki bio on her, I remember her on Seinfeld and I guess I saw her on Law and Order SVU. But I never saw Children of a Lesser God and I don’t watch DWTS.
I have a sheltered life. Really sheltered. And I turned 50 yrs old today.
Remember the band, Sugar Ray? Mark McGrath was the singer.
I hate the cell phone challenges because they don’t prove anything but who has more rich friends.
Hatch actually did a better job managing than Star. His whole crew did better at the nuts and bolts of cranking out the pizzas (and Hatch was totally right to call Partridge on that pitiful amount of chopped vegetables. You can tell Cassidy has never had a food service job. He didn’t have the slightest idea of the kind of quantities he needed, or when it is or isn’t ok to take a smoke break). The women just had more rich donors. It seems like the women always do better at these cell phone challenges because rich guys are more willing to pony up cash for women than for men. There wasn’t really anything Hatch or the guys could have done differently, they just didn’t have the phone numbers. I would have thought that meat Loaf, at least, would still have some well heeled contacts. What is he doing there anyway? Has he run out of all his Bat out of Hell money already? I thought he had done pretty well over the years.
I thought the whole flap with Hatch shoving Partidge was kind of overblown, by the way. It looked like Hatch was just preoccupied and pushing past him. Cassidy was kind of a wuss about it. I don’t know why Conseco cared. That was kind of weird. Didn’t he have a reputaion himself as a bullying jerk when he was a player? Maybe he’s different now that he’s off the juice.
Hatch managed circles around Star. It’ll blow up in her face - those flyers were really bad, putting Dionne at the register was asinine, realizing it was asinine and sticking with it was borderline neglect, and sending out 3 celebrities for $300 of pizza (and tying up the van) were all on Star.
The shove was a little overblown, if not justified. Cassidy was in the middle of a circle discussion going on, yapping into his cell phone. The guy was clueless as to what sort of behavior is appropriate in a team environment.
I can’t wait to get a post-season report from my cousin, who works on this show.
I recall Marlee and Mark Harmon on Reasonable Doubts. She talked in that role and didn’t use an interpreter. Her speech isn’t bad at all. She’s easy to understand.
But on Dancing with the Stars and now, Apprentice she doesn’t talk. I don’t really understand why.
I hope she does ok on the show.
That rapper with the white glasses bugged me. He even wore them in the boardroom.
I’m guessing that the producers think that audiences would be put off by her speech. I don’t think it would bother the audience at all, but television producers are a stupid and craven species.
David Cassidy acted exactly like I expected him too, like a kid that grew up on stage having been pampered his whole life. He apparently has “little man syndrome” to boot. Richard Hatch was a jerk to him but he’s playing a game, one that he knows all too well. Calling Canseco unintelligent was probably a bad move. He may not be all that smart but Richard didn’t have to bring it to everyone’s attention. I can’t tell how much Busey is acting and how much is that he’s actually nuts.
The women’s team was pretty much “meh” to me. I don’t see Dionne Warwick lasting very long. The first time that she is made PM, I’m afraid that she’ll lose horribly. Working a credit card machine is not that difficult.
I haven’t been watching the show this season. Caught the last 10 minutes yesterday and my wife asked me who he was after hearing his name. I had to tell her I thought he must be one of Robin Hood’s men because other than Ms. Maitlin I didn’t know the rest of your list either.
OK, so let’s all make a list of what celebrities we are familiar with and those we aren’t. I’m curious who knows who.
Mahaloth:
Knows who they are:
Gary Busey
Richard Hatch - I think they should have had the Battlestar Galactica Hatch, too, though.
David Cassidy
Niki Taylor
Dionne Warwick
Jose Canseco
Star Jones
Lisa Rinna - I don’t know how she got famous, though.
Marlee Matlin
Meat Loaf
La Toya Jackson - I only know she’s Michael’s sister. An untalented one.
Never heard of:
Lil Jon
Hope Dworaczyk
John Rich
NeNe Leakes
Mark McGrath - I have heard this name, but no idea who he is really.
This is my first time to watch Apprentice, and I already missed the premier. I saw Hatch, Conseco and Cassidy in front of Trump. I saw Cassidy get fired.
Who is the woman in there with Trump? She seemed like a secretary/admin type.
Reading all your posts, I think I might get the premise of the show. Groups are formed, and project managers run a project. This week’s project was to run a pizza parlor? For charity? Or was that two different tasks?
How are the groups formed, and how is a PM assigned?

That was his daughter, Ivanka Trump. She’s more or less a co-host.
As for knowing who these people are, I’ve heard of everybody except for Hope Dworaczyk and NeNe Leakes. But the men seem a lot more famous than the women as I really have no idea why Lisa Rinna is famous and Latoya Jackson is not a “celebrity” in any way, shape or form.
