Celebrity Apprentice (spring 2012) [edited title]

Looks like a pretty standard lineup– the usual suspects, plus a few never-heard-of-'ems.

Penn Gillette & George Takai. I’m calling them as the favorites right now.

Fuck. Every year I say I’m not going to watch this dreck next year…and every year they come up with a “ooh that’ll be a fun trainwreck” cast!

George Takei has recently become the Internet’s favorite wacky gay uncle. I vote for him.

Don’t make Lou Ferrigno angry.

You wouldn’t like Lou Ferrigno when he’s angry.

You guys may think I am crazy, but I actually think Dee Snider could be a contender.

Not that I care about this show but I would be surprised if Jillette makes it past the first episode. Inevitably, he’ll say something snarky that’ll piss Trump off and get canned.

He was on Dancing with the Stars for a nanosecond several seasons ago, and completely misread the vibe there.

Speaking of which, they need to get George Takai on DWTS.

No country superstars this season? They’ve done really well on Apprentice the past few seasons.

Several names I associate with a nasty temper. This could be a noisy season.

Cheryl Tiegs has a very successful business career. Her clothing line sold at Sears for years. She should do well.

Dee Snyder will be fun. I like him, Penn and Paul Teutul as the male front runners. I don’t know enough about the women to pick favorites. I only recognize Tia Carrere, Debbie Gibson, Cheryl Tiegs and Lisa Lampanelli. I guess I’d go with Tia as the front runner.

Snark only gets you canned after about 4-5 episodes (see: Jose Canseco, Richard Hatch), and is usually used to paint targets on the backs of the reality show minnows in the beginning (see: David Cassidy).

I’m naming Arsenio Hall and Debbie Gibson as the top male and female contestants, with George Takei and Cheryl Tiegs as the runners up. There are a lot of very interesting names and personalities, but I think these four will have huge advantages in fundraising and big-picture ideas. Tiegs is the weakest of the four, as the pool of women seem to have been selected based solely on either a) being hot or b) being a bitch. Gibson and Tiegs (and Carrere, I guess), while having been hot in their day, seem to be the only professionals in the bunch.

I wonder if he’ll smash the boardroom table.

Yeah, I didn’t even think of the fund raising capabilities, which, as last season proved, is about 90% of the game. I think Dee Snyder will be able to do that because he’s friends with John Rich.

Yep, Dee, with his connections in the music industry that he can hit up for huge donations, will make it into at least the top three.

It’s for that reason that the reality show stars and beauty queens, who don’t typically have a lot of rich friends, don’t get very far (unless of course they also happen to be drama queens, in which case they’re kept on for the entertainment value).

I haven’t watched the last couple of seasons because none of the celebrities interested me but this years crop looks stellar.

Penn Jillete and Lisa Lampanelli should be a riot.

I may have to switch out Takei with Dee. Dee seems to have Brett Michaels/John Rich written all over him, as a potentially brilliant industry guy hiding behind a stage act. I don’t know what Takei’s connections are, but I’m sure his charity will be LGBT-focused, which has the potential to be an absolutely enormous tap to draw from. However, you have to be able to bring it on tasks you’re not involved in, and Dee could be huge there with a willingness to get on stage/in front of a camera and do absolutely everything necessary to succeed.

I want Penn Gillette, Adam Corrolla and Lisa Lampanelli to do really well - but they’re going to piss everyone off so much they won’t last very long after the reality show queens make early exits.

Dark Horse: Michael Andretti. Comes from a brilliant family, works in a very well-connected industry, and is a hard worker. We’ll see if he has any vision.

Takei is fundraising for the Japanese-American National Museum, a cause deeply important to him (he was an internee as a child).

I may be wrong, but I thought I’d heard that Dee is a pretty astute businessman (as well as having rich music industry friends). I think he’ll do well.

I haven’t watched Apprentice since the Omarosa days but this cast looks really entertaining.

Sounds like a nice organization, but it’s way too focused and specific for Celebrity Apprentice. I’m downgrading him.

I haven’t either. I remember the Raj Ratings with great fondness. Is he still around?
