Let’s start this week’s thread with another magazine heads-up: In the current issue of In Touch (cover story: “A Baby for Jen & Ben?”), at the very, very back of the magazine, Raj gets a two-page spread. Check it out for the full-page pic of him channeling Hef.

And what’s with people running around in their scanties in the promo?
And why do they guarantee the best boardroom ever?
My guess is, the fired person leaves the room and then comes back to chew Trump a new one. The commercial say “when you think it is over, it’s not over” and we see the door opening back up. I think we get a sore loser this week.
I’d be willing to bet two people get fired this week. No great reason, but I think it makes sense for timing. At the rate they are doing oddball board rooms, the only way they’ll be able to promote an exciting, new boardroom in season 3 is if Donald is wearing a tutu and fires someone by urinating on them.
I loved the teaser about this week’s boardroom that basically went (I am paraphrasing), “We know we have told that past boardrooms were going to be unbelievable and “can’t miss”, but obviously we were just yanking your chain. Most of them have been similar to previous ones and fairly pedestrian, in retrospect. But this one! This boardroom, whoa Nellie! We guarantee you won’t want to miss this boardroom. Seriously, this time we mean it.”
I was looking at who had been in the boardroom thus far and who had SUCCESSFULLY led as PM:
Ivana- Week 2, 9 and 10 (Week 2 as PM)- Bradford spared her Week 2. Week 9 she was just called a weak player by Raj. Week 10 she got called a weak player by Chris.
Andy- Week 1, 6, and 7- Usually just because he is young. Week 7 there may have been cause as he lost the cell phone, but still it was the “babysit” thing that was discussed. Won as PM in week 8 (NYPD Challenge)
Maria- Week 3 and 5- Pushed Stacie J under a bus in Week 3 and really was never in danger in week 5. Won as PM in week 6 (fashionistas!)
Kevin- Week 6 and 10- Week 6 he did botch the pricing, but so did Wes. Week 10 he picked the contractor. Both warranted selections. Kevin won as PM in week 3 (Toothpaste promo).
Wes- Week 7 (as PM)- Dodged the bullet by losing the week Stacy was due for a firing. Not a terrible challenge to lose, but it makes him the only Candidate other than Ivana who remains that hasn’t won a challenge. Not good company.
Never been to the Boardroom:
Kelly- Won Week 2 and 10 as PM (Ice Cream and Bridal Shop). The only double winner.
Jennifer- Won Week 7 as PM (Dog Spa)
Sandy- Won week 9 as PM (This Old House)…she’s never been to the BOARDROOM??! She does get semi-credit for a second PM win in week 10.
If I were Trump, I’d make Wes and Ivana be PMs this week.
Apex: Ivana, Jenn, Kevin
Mosaic: Andy, Kelly, Maria, Sandy, Wes
Hmm, four men and four women. Interesting.
Because of the number imbalance, they’re going to have to move someone over to Apex – or do you think they’ll totally shake up the teams again? Go back to men vs. women? Appoint PMs and let them pick their teams?
I think Maria is going this week. Assuming Kelly switches to the other team (as the only move, no big shuffle), the teams are:
Apex - Ivana, Jennifer, Kelly, Kevin
Mosaic - Andy, Maria, Sandy, Wes
On an individual basis, Apex blows Mosaic out of the water. There is no telling how the teams will mesh but Apex has the better parts to work with.
Apex - 1 waste of space, 1 background leader, 2 open leaders in Ivana, Jenn, Kevin, and Kelly respectively. Too many must lead personalities may cause problems, but the main 3 (not Ivana) have all showed a willingness to do what is needed to succeed. That is a valuable gift in this game marked by mistakes, laziness, and idiocy.
Speaking of those 3
Mosaic - 1 screw up, 1 pie-eyed dreamer, 2 either/ors. Maria is the screw up. She has brought nothing to the table, but has taken plenty off of it. Andy is the dreamer. He has had a couple of great moments, but don’t forget his Crustacean Nation and million dollar giveaway. His ideas may succeed but are just as likely to fall flat. Sandy and Wes could be either good or bad. Wes has barely been registering a pulse and Sandy’s last two good weeks probably offset 7 weeks of nothingness.
Which team would you rather bet on? I think Maria takes the fall because with neither a victory nor a commanding presence to cover her errors, her failures really hit the spotlight.
Well, the radio spoiled it for me. At least it sure sounded like it did. NBC had a spot where a psychologist was doing one of those word association deals. The doc would say “Seven o’clock” and the patient would respond “A hilarious new episode of Joey!” Yes, it was as bad as it sounds. When the reached the Apprentice’s time slot he said something to the effect of:
“Another great episode! This time Trump actually fires two…”
At that point the doc cut him off and said “Whoa don’t ruin the surprise!” A little late for that IMO (not that I care that much, but spoilerphobics would not have been pleased).
Should be a good episode!
According to the TWOP forums (which are down right now) the episode synopsis for next week refers to “the remaining SIX contestants.” There are EIGHT left right now. Furthermore there are seven episodes left but one of them is apparently going to be a clip show, which means that at some point there must be a double firing. The teaser from last week said “after the boardroom is over…it’s not over,” and the synopsis for this weeks refers to somebody “hijacking” an idea. So my guess is that Trump might find out that the winning team stole their idea, call them back in after the boardroom (and first firing) and fire the culprit. Should be a great episode.
