Okay, the big finale is tomorrow night – and apparently The Donald is completely up in the air on who he’ll pick. Sounds like it comes down to whether he prefers “tough” or “manipulative.”
My prediction: What happens in the final task really will have a bearing on things. It seems clear that the rain thing that Kelly’s dealing with is bogus – but not so the fact that two of his three team members couldn’t care less about working for him. Is the fact that Jenn is having problems with her client a similar red herring?
I actually need a little advice on this – a friend of mine had prostate cancer surgery yesterday. We were discussing, in advance, when I’d go see him in the hospital – when he mentioned Thursday, and I said “But that’s the three-hour Apprentice finale,” his “well, that’s okay then” was less than fully … understanding. Seriously – if I miss the first hour, I won’t miss anything good, right? Because I wouldn’t tape the whole thing and watch it later, I’d flip on the TV when I got home. And no, I don’t have Tivo, and no, I’m not going to go buy Tivo tonight. Please, tell me I won’t miss anything good in the first hour – lots of recaps, etc. – because I really do know I should go see my friend.
Judging from last year’s finale, you won’t miss anything in the first hour. Highly skippable. However, I would encourage you to have the self-discipline to tape it all and watch it when it’s done. Think of how fast it would go without commercials!
From the article you cited, it looks like Jenn’s facing the real crisis, and I question the rain being bogus…how can they fake rain drama?
Go see your friend. For the past couple of weeks the first 20 minutes has been nothing but recap and long shots (deep focus!) of Trump building exteriors. I imagine the first 90 minutes of this one will be highlights of auditions, etc.
I give six months tops (before being fired) for whichever of these two useless assholes is selected. Trump is up in the air because if this was an actual selection for a position in real life and not a money-making TV show, he wouldn’t give either of them a second glance.
Last September, I was really worried that going into labor was going to stand in the way of watching the finale of The Amazing Race. Fortunately, it didn’t.
I did have my baby on a Thursday night. Events just happened in such a way that I was relaxing with my epidural and watching The Apprentice.
Anyhow, I’m sure the first hour or so will be a big snooze—perhaps some more manufactured drama and all that. I’m still wondering just how far into a major screw-up the Trump corporation would let the contestants go on this task before intervening. I mean, I’m sure Genworth has some understanding of the situation and has agreed to let their events be handled by contestants (probably for a really sweet deal), but at some point, they could be majorly screwed if the 2 couldn’t pull the event off.
Update on my friend, post-surgery – he’s not going to his brother’s, he’s going to his ex’s, for the first couple days after the hospital, and he doesn’t want me to come see him there. Hmmm. So I am off that particular hook.
There was a bit in the new TV Guide about the next season, which starts in January – yes, next month! Not the big hoo-ha about auditions this time, was there? Not hugely spoilerful, but for those who like to keep their experience pristine:
The two teams will be “book smarts” (the college grads, lawyers, and MBAs) vs. “street smarts” (high school only). In other words, the Troys and Sandys against the Jenns and Kevins. Should be interesting.
Has anyone noticed the disclaimer at the end of the shows that basically says the producers have some say in Trump’s decisions? Pretty much allows them to control the situation to make the show more dramatic.
With that in mind, I’m still predicting that Jenn wins based solely on the notion that they wouldn’t want to have two white males picked in a row.
Pretty flimsy reason, but let’s just see what happens.
Twickster, any chance you can handle the final Raj Ratings? I have no idea when I’ll be able to watch the whole show and write out my thoughts. And, even when I can, in a sleep deprived nature it may read something like “and Trump asdlgh asoira a80wnv apsoe his hairpiece.” If you have no idea why I might be sleep deprived, just search for my most recent MPSIMs thread. I have no desire to hunt it down right now.
By the way, you guys (and this thread each week) rock.
Good lord, Mullinator – I’m not worthy! Seriously, I’m not sure I could do justice to the Raj ratings. zut – Bueller – anyone – does someone want to volunteer?
Even without, we’ll all be thinking about you, your wife, and the impending appearance of the Mullinette. Congrats and hugs from the whole Apprentice crew!
I think Jen of Nine seems to be getting a little more cooperation from her own team or at least not blatant hostility like Kelly’s getting. No one on Jen’s team seems to have a huge grudge against her. They just seem bemused by her. She’s kind of a force of nature.
