Celebrity Death Pool 2014

He had a brief but interesting career as an actor. Christopher Jones has died at the age of 72.

I never saw Ryan’s Daughter but as a kid I did see Wild in the Streets on television.

Nobody had him though. Maybe if he’d taken that role he was offered in *Pulp Fiction *he might be better remembered now.

Bonus points for Baker for kicking a man when he is down?

I really hope the twitter stuff about Phillip Seymour Hoffman isn’t right

WSJ posting about it now :frowning:

So it the New York Post… looks like a history of heroin use… very sad…

Damn that’s a shock.

A unique pick for bowler girl, and it puts her in first place.

Feeling quite conflicted right now. RIP Dusty :frowning: but go me!

I met him when I was an extra for Patch Adams. Nice guy, especially if you had a cigarette he could bum.

Well that really sucks.

Well, it was a good strike for you bowler girl.

I’m sorry for that, let me see if I find room in the basket…

Royally. Such a great actor and so young. FEH!

I was watching Patch Adams, last month, and couldn’t get over what a horrible piece of crap it was… Robin Williams being an undisciplined clown, no direction, unbelievable plot, poorly written dialogue, and then Philip Seymour Hoffman gets his big scene, and he nails it! Just an incredible piece of acting, with lousy lines given to him, and a role that is so stereotypical, it was if it had been lifted, detail for detail, from The Paper Chase. The only good thing in the movie (outside of your performance Maus:))

Another loss to the arts because of addiction… but this one is very big loss, indeed.

RIP, you wonderful, fat, tormented, dedicated hulk of a man. Amd thanks for your body of film work that will live on.

How did you ever pick him? Randomly?

He made the cut at the last minute. I read somewhere that he wasn’t looking too good and there was speculation that drugs were the reason. Wish they hadn’t been right.

Addiction is such a terrible thing. Hoffman had 3 kids and that wasn’t enough for him to stop using heroin.

Apparently he was doing surprising well with his family.

Wow, where did you read that?

I tried to find it today and couldn’t. Pretty sure it was in a discussion of Catching Fire but not sure where.

I remember thinking he looked pretty haggard (well, more than usual) and kind of sleepwalking through his lines during Catching Fire. In fact, I thought one line in particular…

…“I agree she should die”…

sounded like a very amateur reading, atypical for him.
