Celebrity Death Pool 2014

This one is from the column of “sad to see him go”. RIP.

I thought this year was going to be a goose egg for me, and then I jump to the top 10.

Little Jimmy Scott lived in Cleveland until 2007 and was well known locally. He will never be forgotten.

You know who I picked for this game back in 1999? Muhammad Ali and Kirk Douglas.

That is so sad, I can’t stop laughing.

He picked up the Pittsburgh Steelers from the bottom of the pile, but when Chuck Noll finished with them, they had become a fearsome powerhouse. The iconic coach, who led the team to four Super Bowl victories, died late Friday at 82.

Latest from the mid-Pacific death watch.

Carla Laemmle, silent film actress and niece of the founder of Universal Studios, at 104. Actress Carla Laemmle, a link to Hollywood's past, dies at 104

A hundred and four! Wow!

A pointless death.

Another scratch from my 2015 short list – Casey Kasem has stopped circling and drained out.

Dammit, you got here before me. I was about to say he’d joined the top 40 of this year’s deathpool.

That’s going to shake up the standings.

Which, I think will move me into the Top 40

18 points more for me, I thought I was looking for a hat trick for the month, but I missed that Ho died in April.

British actor Sam Kelly died at 30 points.

You mean, there’s a British actor who hasn’t been on Doctor Who?

Aw, I loved Kasem’s AT40 and his voice.

Dang, he was on my list for a future pick!

In addition to the AT40 stuff, the thing I remember most about Casey Kasem was the way he spoke up on behalf of Lebanese-Americans and others of Middle Eastern heritage, saying, “Please don’t assume or treat us all as if we are all terrorists. We are Americans too and we love our country too.”

RIP, sir.

Ignorance fought. I hadn’t realized Mr. Kasem’s heritage.
