Bob Suter, a small but pugnacious defenseman whose speed and feistiness helped him earn a spot on Herb Brooks’ “Miracle on Ice” team that won the Olympic gold medal in Lake Placid in 1980, died Tuesday after suffering what a friend said was a massive heart attack while at the rink he owned in Middleton, Wis.
Suter, the father of NHL standout Ryan Suter, was 57 years old.
