SOP for me.
There are a few of us.
I had 3 choices on the list that I was readying for next year that died this year. Now that’s inconsiderate
I’m not going to recycle my list. It was a themed list, just for fun, and nobody on it has got me points. My theme was people with my birthday. Two of them were actually born on the same day I was.
Finally. I score some points.
Clarinetist Acker Bilk, who had a huge 1961 hit with Stranger On The Shore has died at age 85.
ETA: And my first UNIQUE pick ever!
I will most likely use the same list again. Since so far I have a big goose egg (two years in a row!) I might as well. I mean, sooner or later, at least one of them will have the courtesy to step out in front of a bus or fall down an elevator shaft.
Tom Magilozzi from Cartalk.
I really enjoyed Click and Clack. RIP, Tom.
ETA link to the Cafe Society thread:
Will his estate be handled by the legal firm of Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe? Will the Russian chauffer Picup Andropov drive the hearse?
Yes, sad indeed. They were a good team.
That’s what happens. First you just barely notice the annual Death Pool thread, then you click it a few times because what the hell, then you start following the action, then the next thing you know, you’ve made a list.
I finally broke down last December and made a list. You’ll get sucked in too.
And hi to Bluesman and the kids, who aren’t kids anymore, but you know what I mean.
Yeah, you got my hopes up for just a second, since I cribbed Bill Gallagher (formerly of the Montana PSC) off your list. But way before I got to “but not my pick,” I was thinking, “Gulf Breeze? Um, that doesn’t sound like Montana.” Also, IIRC, our Bill Gallagher is a good bit younger than 89.
Guess we can both recycle him next year. He’s gotta die sometime, right?
I am by no means a fan but I don’t remember any mention of Alzheimer’s when they ended the show. It should be illegal to keep such information secret. Does no one think of the Death Poolers?
Seriously.
I wonder if they’ll have their Russian chauffeur Pikupundropov driving the hearse?
I am beginning to doubt it.
Psst! See post #1810! Nyah, got there first!
Oh yes. Last year I finally made a list. And in January, one of my picks died. Woohoo, sez I; this is easy. Ha. Since then, nothing.
Oh yeah? Well, even though Carl Kassel runs screaming into the night whenever he heard them say it, this is NPR.
Well, I heard they chose the funeral home run by Will Diggum & Barry M. Deep.
