Well, on another board, and with admittedly other rules, I got points this year for a person in prison who died a death of natural causes. She was in her seventies, a lifer, and a real bitch. Google Sante Kimes if you are interested.
In the past we allowed as valid picks people in prison, as long as they died, as did the woman above, by some way other than legal execution. For example, back when folks had Timothy McVeigh, or Saddam Hussein, they didn’t get the points for them because their death was mandated by what I suppose I must call “legitimate” governing bodies. Now, if they’d had heart attacks, or a fellow prisoner had slipped a shiv into them, the players would have got the points.
Geez, in trying to decide this I feel like Solomon handing down the decision on whether or not to cut a baby in half.
So, if a person is being held by ISIS, AlQeada, or some terrorist group, as of December 31st, they will not be allowed as choices, no matter how they die.
I disagree with this. Being held captive by ISIS is quite different from being an inmate in state prison. I think hostages should be off limits, but prison inmates should be fair game.
Would that count as double points? “Well, he was 68 when he died, and still 68 when his corpse was given the ol’ double-tap, so that’s 64 points for me!”
Now if one or both of the half-babies survives to 18 (3. Valid picks are not: d. under age 18 at death, 'cause we’re macabre but not THAT macabre.), can one or both be listed & are half points available? Unless one or both are either hostages or death sentenced at the time.
And what about conjoined twins? (need answer fast for my cloning/in vitro fertilization experiment)
When I read that Baker, that you were playing with others, I died a little (no points available) I thought we were the only ones, that we had something special
The reason I put that in there is that there are a lot of countries in the world, and few of us really understand what’s going on there. In some of those places, it’s arguable whether someone’s a political prisoner or whether the crimes they’ve been imprisoned for would have gotten someone else in prison as well. A rule like this removes any need on the part of the DeathMistress to make the call.
I suppose one could make an exception for the U.S. of A. because we’d never do such a thing, and I’d be OK with that once I stopped laughing, because it probably wouldn’t make a difference in the game.
