Celebrity Death Pool 2016

I unashamedly jump on the Joey Feek bandwagon, just so I can increase my lifetime total of correct picks to 2. Chris Brown is the R&B singer/Rihanna’s ex one and this year’s 27 Club nominee. Don King is the boxing promoter one. Some more new ones, some retreads, any similarity to any other list is coincidental if it matters, which it doesn’t.

Myrtle, if that’s Maureen O’Hara the actress she died in October this year.

It has been brought to my attention that a certain singer, Craig Strickland, is most likely dead following a boating accident. His body has not been found.

This could be a can of worms, I am pre-emptively going to declare him ineligible for selection in this pool, as nobody has yet selected him.

There will be one exception to this. If his body is found and he is declared dead by midnight tomorrow, CST 12/31, then he may be included. But I would strongly advise you have an alternate, because if he’s not found until January 1 his death won’t count for points. It would hardly seem worth the trouble, so do your Death Mistress a favor, huh?

And, speaking of favors, how about some more entries? To encourage you my next post will be my own entry. I usually wait until late on 12/31.

I love Japanese monster movies. Each year I attend a small film festival “Godzilla and Friends”. With that in mind I submit the following list.

Katsumi Tezuka 8/31/1912
Known for working inside a number of Toho monster suits

Haruo Nakajima 1/1/1929 Inside the Godzilla suit in several movies, also acted in other films

Sachio Sakai 2/13/1929 newspaper reporter Hagiwara in first Godzilla

Tadao Takashima 7/27/1930
Japanese actor, know for King Kong vs. Godzilla, plus a lot of others

Kyoko Kagawa 12/5/1931 Portrayed a photographer in first Mothra

Kenji Sahara 5/14/1932

Akira Takarada 4/29/1934 A prominent Japanese actor, he’s a star in the original Godzilla, his first role in movies. Dude is still working.

Yosuke Natsuki 2/27/1936
Movie and TV actor, known for kaiju, was in Yojimbo

Yumi Shirakawa 11/21/1936
Starred alongside Kenji Sahara(see above) in the first Rodan movie

Akira Kubo 12/1/1936
Known for kaiju and samurai films, works in movies and TV, was in the Kurosawa film Throne of Blood

Yumi Ito 4/1/1941 The survivor of the first pair of twin fairies in Mothra

Linda Haynes 11/4/1947

Made her movie debut in the incredibly silly movie Latitude Zero, had a middling sort of career

Mari Nakayama 2/1/1948

Haruo Nakajima
Sachio Sakai
Tadao Takashima
Kyoko Kagawa
Kenji Sahara
Akira Takarada
Yosuke Natsuki
Yumi Shirakawa
Akira Kubo
Yumi Ito
Linda Haynes
Mari Nakayama

Sorry, some of my unique picks were pilfered when I posted a couple of hours early this year. Last minute post for me.

I understand, I hope we get a rush today as well though.

If you would be kind enough to pretty please post another recap, Baker, I will be happy to post my list today. Thank you ever so very much.

I like you!

An excellent decision. I applaud.

This part confuses me, though. If he’s on someone’s 2016 list, and he dies in 2015, then he doesn’t count for 2016 Death Pool points, by definition. Am I missing something?

Sure, if his body turns up by midnight tomorrow, he’d count on the 2015 list of anyone who had him, though I doubt anyone even considered putting him on their list at this time last year.

:smack:

I’m an idiot, and I don’t blame you for being confused.

Let’s just say Mr. Strickland is ineligible for choosing, based on the fact the Death Mistress is not too bright.

Does Helen Fawkes fall into the category of being famous for being ill? I know she used to be a BBC journalist.
