Celebrity Death Pool 2016

According to CNN, Cole died on New Year’s Eve.

I didn’t get the response I was hoping for. Your ten percent comes to seventy-three cents, half a roll of breath mints and some lint.

Well, hell.
You tried, that is what is important.

Lint?

It was in the bottom of the backpack of one of my celebrities. I’m trying to figure out if there’s a market for celebrity backpack lint.

No drugs, no traveler’s checks?

I’m almost sure the backpack was not the celebrity’s everyday backpack.

Well that is damned convenient, isn’t it? :dubious:

Jason Wingreen, Harry the bartender from All In the Family, and voice of Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back, has died at 95.

Dale Bumpers, former governor of and Senator from Arkansas, has died at age 90.

Former Rep. Mike Oxley, the Oxley of the post-Enron Sarbanes-Oxley reforms, has died at 71.

French singer Michel Delpech has died today at 69 from cancer.

My fastest hit ever

imdb puts his death at a week ago Friday – hope no one picked him for 2016.

Whoa! We have a winner! guylevesque wins the Opening Kickoff award, with Michel Delpech. Thirty-one points, not too bad.

I posted my clean list a few minutes before the deadline two nights ago, leaving no time for additional commentary. Here’s my annotated follow-up.

I wanted to assemble a list that skewed young and was not cribbed from other posters (I avoided reading any of the thread until now). While this is not a thematic list, it did end up containing a good number of folks in the hip-hop community. Really, I just started with the troubled Chief Keef (dude who makes MANY headlines – for all the wrong reasons – here in Chicago) and followed him to other folks in the same ecosystem.

I’ll very well end up with no points in 2016, but there is potential for big points here! My “unclean” list, with current age in parentheses:

Ethan Couch (18) – The “affluenza” teen from Texas recently captured in Mexico.

**Chief Keef *(20) – a/k/a Keith Cozart, perpetually troubled “drill” rapper from Chicago. For a while he was popping up in the local news about monthly for yet another DUI, drug charge, shooting incident, etc.

Heather Mack (20) – Co-perpetrator in the Bali suitcase murder case. Serving prison time in Indonesia.

Lil Durk (23) – a/k/a Durk Banks, another drill rapper from Chicago that seems to find annual trouble with gun charges. His manager was gunned down last year.

Azealia Banks (24) – Hip hop artist more famous for feuds than music.

Louis King Johnson Jr. (28) – Chicago-based drill rapper better known as “King Louie” or “King L.” Shot in the head on Dec. 23rd.

**Kim Jong-un *(32) – North Korean dictator. Likely to kick it this year? No, but a boatload of points if he does get thrown to the dogs!

Martin Shkreli (32) – Pharma bro. Here’s wishing him the worst!

Jeremiah Ratliff (34) – Defensive lineman fired from the Chicago Bears in October after bizarre behavior and outbursts. Committed DUI a couple years ago.

**Suge Knight *(50) – Rap impresario. I thought he was a strong pick last year, but I’m less certain this tear. Ending up in jail will probably be safer for him… but dude has health troubles regardless.

William “The Fridge” Perry (53)* – Former Chicago Bear.

Joaquín Guzmán (61) – Mexican drug lord recently escaped from prison and still on the lam.

Jerry Sandusky (71)* – Wishful thinking.

*rolled over from my 2015 list

El Famous Burrito, that is actually a pretty good list. A few names there have had other players pick them, some are unique. I’m looking forward to seeing how your list does.

I probably should have looked up all of Kim Jong Un’s aides and listed them. He kills at least one per year, it seems.

This article indicate that someone should have done a theme list of Mayors of Mexican Cities.

Thanks! I really, really ought to start tracking news stories throughout the year. This year and last, many of my picks had a decidedly November/December bent to them.

Appreciate the work you put into this!

NurseCarmen, I just saw that your list included Francis George, cardinal of Chicago. Unfortunately, Cardinal George succumbed to cancer this past April, making him an invalid pick for 2016.

Perhaps your alternate can be swapped in?

There were those who wanted him to run for President.
His son William was one year ahead of me in a private school, wrapped his car around a tree and somehow escaped a DWI charge.

If you had done this and she recovered, I would pay you to keep her on your list.
