Celebrity Death Pool 2020

Gary Starkweather’s paper tray is empty.

Terry Jones, ‘Monty Python’ star, dead at 77

Hey, my first points of the year.

Still, very sad. He directed all the Monty Python movies I think. :frowning:

Not And Now for Something Completely Different, which was directed by Ian McNaughton, who directed most of the TV episodes.

He’s not dead. He’s just pining for the fjords.

Sorry.

Co-directed *Holy Grail * with Terry Gilliam.

And then there was four. This is one of the very few deaths I’m sad about, while at the same time also looking forward to the funeral.

And coming just a few weeks after frequent Python collaborator Neil Innes died. :frowning:

His imdb page currently lists his cause of death as “dementia”.

Yes, he had a type of dementia that takes speech first. The rest just kind of faded away over the course of a few years. Very sad for such a great conversationalist and intelligent person to fade away.

But dementia is not really a cause of death, as such.

But it had to be said.

I just binge-watched the 40th anniversary collection this weekend and he had a few good mentions and comments as parts of it.

So, uh, did anyone have beloved corporate mascot Mr Peanut? Probably not, given he was worth zero points, but still… could be a unique pick.

“It is with heavy hearts that we confirm that Mr. Peanut has died at 104. In the ultimate selfless act, he sacrificed himself to save his friends when they needed him most. Please pay your respects with #RIPeanut

People with advanced dementia cannot take care of themselves. While its not a direct cause of death like say pneumonia, it is a contributing factor.

Sonny Grosso who as a real life NYPD detective inspired the French Connection dies at 89.

He later became a technical advisor, actor and producer.

No but another Doper just picked him as their avatar. Coincidence? we’ll never know.

Alzheimer’s certainly can be a direct cause of death. In its advanced stages, it eats away at the brain’s ability to maintain and regulate basic bodily functions.

Usually something else kills them first, due to their physically weakened state, but not always.
